However, this will limit your dating options especially since most guys will be shorter than you.
Consider finding happiness like these tall women have with men shorter than them...

3.2K opinions shared on Dating topic. No, it’s your personal choice , you prefer a taller guy , so your preferences are your preferences

1 yNo but, being 6' 9" myself, quite often, I have nothing better to choose from! My ex-fiance was only 5' 3"! I would LOVE to have a tall girl but, beggars can't be choosy! I guess ya gotta take what's available and, for me, that's next to NOTHING!! I haven't had a girlfriend in 23 years!! And the last 2 or 3 of those, she was cheating on me!!
My uncle was almost as tall as me and he married someone that was barely 5" tall!!
Now that I think of it, I had two 6' uncles that married midgets.10 Reply - 2.2K opinions shared on Dating topic.
1 yAbsolutely not. Everyone is free to have their preferences. I'm saying this as a 5'9 guy that I take no offense that you would not date shorter than yourself.
There is a dominant submissive dynamic in a relationship between a guy and girl... usually. It's the reason why girls generally prefer taller, stronger, bigger, older, and honestly... more intelligent guys. And guys prefer the opposite.
There's nothing wrong with it. It's natural for most people.11 Reply
m 1 yDoes your height vary, it’s either 6 foot or it’s a height over 6 foot. Anyhow it’s your personal choice, people are allowed their own preferences, just as a guy of say 5’11 who ticks a lot of your boxes could reject you for being too tall, as he does not like tall girls.
00 ReplyTallness is a masculine trait, make sense that you want a man more masculine than you.
00 ReplyNot if you don't want to.
I used to refuse to date fat women because I wasn't attracted to them.
You can't help what or who you're attracted to. (I'm 5'8 by the way... so you wouldn't want to date me either. I'm also considered vgl and have a CrossFit bod... and I bet you still wouldn't be interested... and that's ok!)
00 Reply2.4K opinions shared on Dating topic. It's fine, but realize that dating is a competition and most women of all heights want tall men, especially 6' and taller. Plus being 6' or taller already makes them in the top 15% of men, not even considering other factors including if they are even single. So that means there is a lot of competition for the men you want. What do you have to offer a potential partner that other women don't?
00 Reply2.2K opinions shared on Dating topic. No more shallow than other girls. No more shallow than me preferring a slender girl with C cups. Men are more willing to compromise than girls. I'd accept B cups but actual couples have a height difference nearer the girls preferred height difference than the guys preferred height difference.

1 yIt's not shallow if it's for you. If you know that a shorter guy just won't "do it" for you, that's a fine reason not to date him.
It is shallow if it's for appearance. If you know that you could find a shorter guy attractive, then his height shouldn't stop you from dating him.

She says she refuses, that is not a preference, that is a requirement. Preference doesn't mean requirements.
- 1 y
@wowop99266 it's her preference, and it's normal, we would rather accept people in the range of our preferences... and you don't have to agree, and she doesn't care if you don't agree... so don't waste your time and resources on someone who rejected you...
Anonymous(45 Plus)1 yYeah, but you already know that. Just like it's shallow for a guy to refuse to date a 250lb. chick. But we both do it so...
We only punish ourselves when we do this. Because only 14.5% of men are over 6 feet tall. Which means you've already excluded 85.5% of men before you even start. Which doesn't give you very good odds of meeting a match.
00 Reply2.4K opinions shared on Dating topic. nope not at all.
Some guys only date short women to make themselves look bigger, some will only date big boobs or a big butt, so you have every right to pick and choose who you wish to date.00 ReplyIt's just as shallow as a guy who refuses to date tall girls. I wouldn't call it shallow, but some would.
00 ReplyYes, it could be normal, I think it depends on the height difference.
What is the minimum height a man should be for you?00 Reply646 opinions shared on Dating topic. If all you judge a person on is their height, it is.
But it's a preference. I can't blame you for it. I just kept looking for another tall woman who doesn't mind.

1 yIt is a personal choice whether you like guys tall or short. I have heard more than once the saying that short men like tall women because guys can have their penis in the girl's vagina and suck their tits at the same time

Asker1 yI agree but it looks so weird publicly being taller than your man
- 1 y
The "weirdness" is your problem; not theirs. Don't let what you think others perceive as driving your decisions and personal tastes. Those people don't give a rat's ass about you. This is YOUR life. It is up to you to find happiness in your way and the first step of that is to determine who YOU are - not what others think you should be.
Asker1 ySo you think the reason why I won't date short guys is because I'm insecure?
- 1 y
Only you can answer this.
Simply ask yourself this:
If you see a man shorter than you, are you physically attracted to him. Now, of course, you won't be for many men. But, if you see a man that you are otherwise attracted to and the only thing preventing you from considering dating him is because that it "looks weird" or that other's might disapprove or whatever, then it's insecurity.
Trust your instincts.
You spend your life with your future husband, not the people who you think will "judge" you. - 1 y
Don’t you want a man who loves you and treats you right, regardless of his height? You really can’t look past that?
Asker1 yOf course but as a woman you understand that most women want a guy that is taller than them. It's not the norm to see a taller woman with a short guy especially in the United States. I think there is a reason for that
- 1 y
As I’ve gotten older, a man’s height is LOW on my list. As a matter of fact, a man’s height has never mattered to me. What’s important to me is how a man treats me. That’s what it boils down to. You are unknowingly eliminating a LOT of good men solely based on this preference of yours. However, the fact that you still really care about the (ignorant) opinions, the “norms” of this society, etc, shows me that you have some growing up to do. At any rate, that’s all I have to say. Take care. 😊

THIS:
"Of course but as a woman you understand that most women want a guy that is taller than them."
What other women want is irrelevant.
What YOU want is the only thing that is.
If you reject a guy because your instincts tell you to reject him, that is one thing.
If you reject a guy because "most women want a guy that is taller than them", then you are a lemming.
THIS:
"It's not the norm to see a taller woman with a short guy especially in the United States. I think there is a reason for that."
Yeah, of course there's a reason for that: Mathematics and human biology. The average human male is larger than the average human female because of the physiological evolution of humans.
So, probabilistically, a couple will consist of the man being taller than the woman.
Note that, in other species, it is usually the female who is larger than the male - often MUCH larger.

Most male mammals aren’t bigger than females
By James Ashworth
First published 12 March 2024
It’s often assumed that male mammals are bigger than their female counterparts, but this might not actually be the case.
After comparing hundreds of mammal species, scientists have found that when it comes to sexual selection, size isn’t everything.
New research is cutting male mammals down to size.
While we may think of hulking elephant seal bulls or huge stags, these males appear to be the exception, rather than the rule. A new analysis of over 400 species suggests that there are more mammals where the females are actually the same size as, or larger than the males.

Tombak, K. J., Hex, S. B. S. W. & Rubenstein, D. I. New estimates indicate that males are not larger than females in most mammal species. Nat Commun 15, 1872 (2024). https://doi.org/10.1038/s41467-024-45739-5
Abstract
Sexual size dimorphism has motivated a large body of research on mammalian mating strategies and sexual selection. Despite some contrary evidence, the narrative that larger males are the norm in mammals—upheld since Darwin’s Descent of Man—still dominates today, supported by meta-analyses that use coarse measures of dimorphism and taxonomically-biased sampling. With newly-available datasets and primary sources reporting sex-segregated means and variances in adult body mass, we estimate statistically-determined rates of sexual size dimorphism in mammals, sampling taxa by their species richness at the family level. Our analyses of wild, non-provisioned populations representing >400 species indicate that although males tend to be larger than females when dimorphism occurs, males are not larger in most mammal species, suggesting a need to revisit other assumptions in sexual selection research.

Asker1 yIt just looks awkward towering over your partner as a woman
Opinion Owner1 ySo you wouldn't date a guy that's under six feet
Asker1 yProbably not. I'm already 6'0 without heels so with heels I'm about 6'3. Being 6 or 7 inches taller than your partner is a deal breaker for me
Opinion Owner1 yMost women are not that tall most women are only 5'3.
Opinion Owner1 yYou must be Russian
Asker1 yI understand but I'm 6'0. I'm an anomaly especially for a woman in the United States.
Asker1 yNo I'm actually Latina
Opinion Owner1 yLatino girls are normally never not tall

Asker1 yHow so? You can't have preferences
Asker1 yIt depends. If he was 5'10 it wouldn't be an issue but as you go shorter it looks awkward towering over your partner. Also if I'm wearing heels that makes it look worse.
Asker1 yThat's a very small part of it but mostly it's a preference. Rarely a guy being the shorter one in a relationship works.
- 1 y
You asked a question knowing full well what the answer would be and you're just trying to defend your position now. Call it a preference if you want but it's shallow
No different than you checking all the boxes for a guy and he rejects you simply because you're too tall and thinks it'll look awkward to other people
