How would you knock someone out in a fight?

In a fair fight, a right cross to the chin might do it.

If I was defending myself in a life-and-death situation, I'd kick him in the nuts, and when he bends over in pain, an uppercut to his jaw, then run like hell to get away from him.

My favourite way, not that I like fighting I wish to be made clear!

is to uppercut with my elbow to the underside of their chin. Illegal move in most martial arts, but in Krav Maga it's an accepted knockout blow!

You administer it by gripping the back of their neck and then pulling them down to meet the elbow. I also want to make it clear, I don't start fights. Never have. I deplore violence, but if you are faced with an enemy set on fighting then it's best to throw a couple of quick punches to disorientate them, and then administer a full on punch or knee that will end the fight quickly.

A way I use to tell my ladies at self defence group was if a guy makes a grab for you with both hands, either around the neck or lower, swivel the body around to the side locking their hands in place with one hand and then shove your other elbow with all the power you can muster into the face whilst dragging the assailant down to meet the blow, and then run and get help. Administered correctly They would leave behind a trail of blood from a broken nose or taken out a few teeth.
