Should I file a restraining order against my boyfriend?

I am not sure at what point i should pursue legal action against him or if i should. I don’t feel safe with him anymore he is unstable and he does irrational things. We had a fight in my car recently (he was driving it) he decided to grab me by force outside of the car and he ripped my shirt off and left me stranded in the middle of nowhere at like 2 am. That was a very scary night for me and i was worried about getting home safely. I am sick of his behaviour and I don't know if i should break up and let it go or file a complaint against him he even sexually assaults me but i don’t even want to mention this to police cause i don’t wanna hear anything about him being my boyfriend so that makes me look bad since they will expect it to be consensual I don’t want to traumatize myself further that’s it.

100% take out a restraining order , this is not a good person , you dont need this kind of negative in your life , nothing is worth that , if your story is factual you have been abused and assaulted.

A restraining order will last only for a little while until it goes to court and you need to show the judge that one is needed permanent.
