A boy got my account from my classmate. He texted me and directly confessed he likes me. He said his feelings were genuine and we texted for one week. We went on one date and after I confessed I like him back. He just backed out and said he is not genuine one and might hurt me. I ended the talking stage after this. Why did he backed out when I reciprocated his feelings?

All my classmate think we are dating. So I asked him if he was genuine so that I can continue this talking stage. But he too don't want to end it but he is not a genuine one
