What makes a dating profile great or terrible?

Right, I'm old AF (37), single (for years) and ready to enter the dating realm. I've never used a dating app before (ahh). My end game is to find a relationship.

The question: what makes a great or terrible dating profile? or if you have any advice for me at all - I'd be grateful.

I'm not about sleeping around, so I don't want my profile to have that suggestive vibe but I'm not gonna say "looking for a relationship" like I'm a crazy person; to me it's just having fun connecting with new people and seeing where things can potentially go or not go 😊

Just a heads up before you do, you will absolutely get a lot of heads trying to hook up. I mean primarily that's what people use dating apps for, well for guys it's to fuck, and girls it's for attention or validation. Now I'm not saying it's the case for everyone like that. I'm just letting you know the realm you're entering here

I've been on dating apps. And this is just me, so do it if you want, but me PERSONALLY, when girls try to make a " funny face" or purposely look dumb is like so weird to me, like it's a dating app. But anyway, I'd say, especially for girls it's not so much about having a great profile or anything because most the time it's women just choosing from men in who they want. All you gotta do is look good and they'll come. So just post pictures where you look pretty, put what you're NOT looking for. They still ain't gonna listen but at least you tried. And if you don't want to say you're looking for a relationship say some shit like," open to see where things go" or something along those lines

Yeah that's my impression about dating apps it's just about casual sex and games... not ma style.

I would say " just looking to have fun connecting with new people". I as a guy would reject you on that statement alone. There's nothing wrong with saying "looking for a relationship" if you are. It's a dating app.

What makes a good dating profile is honesty and positivity.

What I look for is positivity and consistency. If a woman starts complaining in her profile I swipe left. If I start spotting inconsistencies it is usually because she lying about something, swipe left.

Agree, love this and thank you! I never shy away and always communicate what I'm looking for when I've been approached (in real life) but because I've never done the dating app thang, I just don't have a gauge on what is appropriate on a profile (which I'm learning now).

I think your logic triumphs, it rings true w/me and will also help weed out people not on the same page

I think its always best to keep it pretty light and fun and then screen from there , dont list too many " musts " just work though all that as you communicate , you'll get plenty of them coming to you , it will not be an issue.

Absolutely , if you get a constant that really Pisses you off ( for example ) .. Just write " Update -- dot dot dot " on top , they still will not read it , but after you say " have yo read my profile " , then they will read.

🤣 Yes I know! not disagreeing there. Not looking for someone younger or even around my age because I know many guys have goals of building families and women who are spring chickens are great options for you, I'm an advocate for that... as much as I desired that life, it didn't work out for me.

I'd be suited to an older man, who's settled, either has kids or not and just wants a peaceful partnership

I'm just so on the fence about joining one and I think these replies are gonna help me realise it's a bad idea lol - and that's okay.
