Do guys even enjoy romcoms?

I've been dating this guy and he like action and syfy. He introduced me to Deadpool and said it's a love story. He then says I can pick the next movie but then he's like no romance and kind of turns his face up at other suggestions that are not romance movies. Was wondering do guys just not enjoy these movies or does he not want to be romantic with me? Romcoms are cute and funny.

Romcoms are boring so no. People watch movies to escape reality they like fiction. Now there's a lot of a girls who see Romcoms as that.
But guys don't escape reality with it, it's more just watching an life of what they want anyway. And if we already have a partner then it would just be a film depicting what we already have?

We don't mind romance in super heroes etc because that's the focus the unrealism of been a super hero anyway. Same way we wouldn't mind it in a horror film or etc because it has that twist that's not reality for us.
But romcoms just focus on things that can and do happen but ends happy cause well it's rubbing it in your face or you've achieved that already.

But that's just my thoughts. And this is speaking typically of course not everyone is the same.
Also an important weird side note, I don't think what I said above is accurate to Tv shows. For some reason I really like 'How I met your mother', 'Big Bang', 'New Girl', 'Love', 'Glimore Girls' these are all pretty much romcoms.
These stand out compared to tons of bland other TV romcoms so I don't know what the special mix is to make them great but something is.

My wife and I enjoy some romcoms, but not all We used to watch the Hallmark channel a lot, until we realized that every movie had basically the same plot.

I do prefer Sci-Fi and Historical movies, but a nice romcom is also entertaining.

You will find guys that like romcoms, guys that hate romcoms, and guys that think they are okay. There is no general rule for guys and romcoms, just like there is no general rule for girls and sports... some like, some don't.

The problem with rom-coms are they're complete b. s. women may lap that 💩 up but it just makes us guys angry. Guys might like them to begin with. But after he's had his heart broken a few times he just wants all that nonsense to go away.

I've remarked about the Rom-com "500 days of summer". I watched that because I didn't know it was a rom-com to begin with. And it was so great! Very realistic! Right up till the final 10 minutes. Then it had to follow the same sappy b. s. rom-com script. He met a woman and presumably fell in love. We don't know for certain, because that's where it ended. Why couldn't it have just ended with him being single, being fine with it, and moving on with his life.

Long story short guys like real, accurate love story. Not that storybook b. s. where it all works out.

Kind of, but not really. I enjoy them from time to time. The problem with RomComs is they create super unrealistic, ass-backwards expectations about love and relationships. It's tough for us to enjoy that stuff because we know it would never work with women in real life.

The reality is that if the guy you're dating were to do even 1/4 of the shit a guy in a romcom does; you'd file for restraining order. And if he did 1/2, you'd want him thrown in jail as a threat to society.

I hate them with a vengeance due to how utterly boring and unoriginal they are. thier not funny enough to be real comedies and their not romantic enough to have anything interesting to look at. Most men agree that this is one of the least enjoyable genres for them. sadly their my girlfriend's favorite so i end up watching them.

Romcoms will have a rope around my neck in 5 minutes. They are vacuous, formulaic, predictable and insulting to ANYONES intelligence. Random YouTube rabbit hole would be better. Yes, she hates that I think this way too as she enjoys them. IDC. They're time on 🌎 I'll never get back.

very, very few are made from a guy's perspective. If you want to watch a romantic movie with a guy, not a rom-com per se, just watch the "Before" series: Before Sunrise, Before Sunset, and Before Midnight

It's just a difference in taste. I never want to watch one but when I do to make a girlfriend happy I usually end up having a good time. We don't like them because they usually have unrealistic stories around love that raises expectations to the stratosphere.

I would never choose to watch a romantic comedy generally speaking. Also , I would consider Deadpool an action comedy. Some guys like do enjoy them just not for me …. Boring and predictable !!
