If you have to choose between providing income and being with someone who can fulfill your emotional needs, who would you go for?

A fast food worker who will give you the world, is emotionally available and is relationship oriented

A pretty successful business owner who always put their work first, is emotionally unavailable but can help provide for you

I could imagine either one having traits that would make them someone I would date, for example if the fast food worker is also in grad school, or if the business owner is getting over some emotional situation and might be more open emotionally after processing it. But as they are worded my answer would be neither.

Tell me why do we always have to PICK in between two opposites? When there are people that can be both... I can't vote because I have a Man that has both qualities, and I think you cannot PICK who you love.
IF YOU LET YOUR HEART LEAD , it'll bring you to one or the other OR somebody that has BOTH TRAITS...

I’m using the extremes of both sides just to see what people value more when it comes to choosing a partner. It’s refreshing to see that most people value an emotional connection over how much money someone makes tho 😌

I’m glad you’ve found a partner that is an all rounder. I’m also lucky enough to find a man that’s the whole package, sadly not everyone is as lucky as us… I agree that you can’t pick who you love, but you can pick who is the better fit for your needs. I’ve seen too many people staying in a toxic unfulfilling relationship because they’re still in love with the person

That is true and now I understand your POV, sadly many women stay in toxic relationship for very toxic reasons regardless, I've been there too sadly you cannot control things but you can only learn and make sure to not repeat the same path.

I come from a very close knit family. And family comes before anything. I understand if a woman is driven to be successful business woman, she's just not the woman for me if it comes before family.

Based on what I’m seeing online especially with the younger generation, they seem to value income/followers/success over most other things when looking for a partner so that why I thought more people will go with the successful business person over the other one

I see, you are in the 25-29 range, many people might have told you this but what you see online could be a distorted mirror. Reality might be very different :)

and It's explainable, people valuing income/social status are one category of people overcharging internet because... This is their business, this matters to them that you see them everywhere, logical. But, they are just a minority, a noisy minority. The majority is silent, not much voicing online. So you don't see them, yet, they are THE majority !

I’ve only been hearing stories from my guy friends about the high expectations that the women they’ve met had when it comes to income and yet they have low to no expectations when it comes to emotional availability. I think these are just a very loud minority like you said. Thanks for shedding a new perspective into this!
