What makes a good kisser?

Since my first relationship when I was 15, the girls I've dated/kissed have always said that I'm a good kisser. I don't understand why or how. It's not like I kissed anyone before I kissed someone for the first time. I just put my lips on theirs and voila, an apparent good kisser. It also acknowledges that there are bad kissers? Like, kissing is such a simple concept in my mind, I can't figure out how someone could be a good kisser vs a bad kisser 🤷‍♂️

Here are some things that can make someone a good kisser:

- Soft, gentle lips - No one likes super chapped or hard, sloppy kisses. Soft and supple lips are more pleasant to kiss.

- Correct pressure - You don't want to kiss too hard and smash faces, but too light isn't good either. A nice light-to-medium pressure is just right.

- Lip/tongue sync - Coordinating your lips and tongue with your partner's is an art. Following their lead but also adding your own moves keeps things interesting.

- Timing - Slow, teasing kisses can be hot but so can short, quick pecks. Knowing when to vary speeds and intensity keeps the passion flowing.

- Eye contact - A little eye contact before and during kissing helps the intimacy. Don't stare them down but a couple looks shows desire.

- Clean mouth - Brush and use mouthwash, duh! Bad breath is always a mood killer.

- Reading their reactions - Pay attention to what gets a better reaction. Go with what's working instead of just doing your own thing.

Who knows, maybe you're just a natural! Practice does help though - the more you kiss, the better your technique gets at reading people. Sounds like you've got the basics down anyway if girls say you're good. Keep it up!

Being gentle and knowing the right moments go a long way. Yeah, it's just putting your lips on theirs, but apparently some people struggle with how to do that. Not too much pressure, soft and gentle.

- If you're in a setting/situation where you can make out, using your tongue. Don't just jam it down their throat. Gently tease and explore more and more.

I've been told I'm a good kisser and I do put effort into being good at it so I'll say this:

People always say don't do what you see in movies.

I say, do exactly what you see in kissing scenes. But tone it back like 30 percent. I like to think of it as they're doing the right thing just exaggerating for the camera.

Kissing is kinda like level 1 of sex because in a way all sexual acts are just like kissing.

When you kiss someone there are three steps. If you keep the image of a movie in your head. ( I like to think of the Spiderman scene where he's kissing the girl upside down.) there's the opening salvo. It's that moment where let's say you just met a girl or you haven't done anything together yet. It's that moment where you're looking at eachother passionately. She's (hopefully) tense wondering if you're going to make a move. Ideally, you get to this moment by building up sexual tension.

you're going to be in one of two positions here. Either you realize early on she's attracted to you and READY in which case you can drag this step out a bit or you're getting hit with that feeling that she's BEEN ready for your move in which case it's usually best to move in asap.

You approach according to the moment. Generally speaking, this is absolutely not a hard and fast rule but if you've been building up to this moment for a long time, then it's more times than not good to go in slowly touch your lips with hers and go in.

You stop if she applies pressure on your chest. To push you away. She might back off at first. This is often so far as I can tell a natural reaction some woman have. You know she actually doesn't want to kiss you when she puts her hand on your upper body and pushes you away and turns her face away.

The next part is the main kiss. You should pucker your lips slightly. She's watching them so don't go to far out until your right next to hers where they can't be seen.

Don't just go straight into tonging her. You want to sort of start off with a peck. If she's really feeling you, this will increase the tension even more. Now she really wants you to kiss her like in a movie. But you ease into it. A peck, then some light kissing. Stiffen your lips according to how much she's pressing her face into yours. You want it to feel soft. And avoid teeth clashing at all costs, even at the expense of moving your head back. If you have big hands, its especially a good idea to hold her face.

Then you do what I like to call knocking on the door. Some girls really don't like tung. So ask for permission by poking the lips gently. If she closes hers. Then back off I usually play if off like I was only using it for lubrication lol which can be a little awkward but not mood killing if it lasts less than 3 seconds or a passing moment.

If she doesn't let you in then the kissing is all about the lips and timing the pressure correctly.

If she let's you in, it's all about feeling her out, not going in too deep unless she's freaky and eventually she'll show you what she likes. Do your own thing but follow her lead when she starts doing something different.

There is no rule to good kissing. Most of it has to do with how much they like you.

If you avoid bumping heads, have good breath and smile nice, you're a good kisser. I've always been told the same and I 100% am not doing anything special.
