Why would a tall, successful rich, respected man want to settle for one woman?

To start a family with the intention of raising kids. Unless you live in very select countries in Africa or the Middle East, polygamy is not a common practice, with bigamy being illegal.

So you'd open up a situation where some, or all of your children are bastards unless you are a good Muslim man, and I think it requires the permission of the first wife to bring in new wives as well. Not all Islamic countries have polygamy either.

They'd also be treated kind of like zoo animals unless your wealth and influence are just ridiculous in other countries.

@razelove If I understand you bigamy is when you're married to multiple women. I'm not advocating for marriage as it doesn't benifit men, I'm simply asking about only seeing one woman.

Indeed, and my answer remains the same, the time when it is advantageous is for starting a family and having kids that aren't bastards or maybe babies. There are few parts of the world where it is socially acceptable to have children from multiple women at the same time, be together with them, and for that to not fuck up the kids too.

If it's purely physical relationships, or I've seen before separating by distance and having jobs requiring travel, that could work. Like having girlfriends in different states, or for different days of the week.
