Seeing someone who’s parents are racist?

Im a BW and he’s white, we’re both in our mid twenties, we’ve meet and connect with each other so well that he want to meet my family but before that he has to tell his family about me and they are very much conservative people. He finally told them and they were not happy bc of my skin color and was told many disgusting things about me when they haven’t even met me yet. Now they have made an ultimatum for him to choose and add financial support to be taken from him while he’s in school as well. Obviously he did choose so he can’t finish school and life but it sucks that I was never given a chance by his family to get to know who I am. Now we have to stop seeing each other bc constant fighting with his family and it stresses him out. I’m a family oriented person and don’t want him to be separated from his family bc of me but he did already choose and it’s been a week and I miss him and have dreams to just call him but I don't know if it will mean anything. I want to be his friend at least but I don't know if that’s and opinions anymore, I still haven’t replied back to the message he send about the second fight with his family and breaking things off. What’s should I do? Or just leave it alone?

If that were my case it would depend on how long we've known each other and if we have real feelings for each other or not. If it's just someone that I was getting to know, personally would not deal with that kind of situation or involve myself in their drama. Not because of what his parents will think but because I wouldn't want him to decide to end things further down the road after actual feelings might have developed. I'd save myself the trouble, but that's just me.

It's sad that people like that still exist. As a conservative my self, I could not imagine being upset if my son or daughter dated or married someone who was not white. Only thing I care about is weather or not said person makes them happy and takes care of them. I am so sorry you put up with that. I hope, if you love him and he loves you, that he comes to his senses.

Yeah I can’t wrap my head around how they have treated him about the situation. I've never grow up like that and have all type of race in my family with lots of love. It sucks for him that they rather make him miserable and not happy.

That's unfortunate. At best he still has to play nice with his family until he can be independent, which is really hard right now. Sucks that your relationship has to suffer because of them.

Yes, that’s why i totally understand for his situation is to being able to finish school and other stuff bc life is hard without that extra help.

Very sad, and confusing why it’s still a thing in 2024
