I was speaking to a guy who was a complete waste of my time, he was really immature and still wanted to party every weekend and in general just not ready for a relationship. I knew him for 8 years so was pretty comfortable around him but we only really went on one date last summer with nothing happening between us (not even a kiss even though he tried)

He has a friend who obviously doesn’t know about us and has been trying to talk to me on Instagram for a while. Even though he is really attractive I was ignoring him because I liked the other guy and was hopeful. I recently saw the other guy out with other girls and realised i felt nothing. We literally walked past each other like strangers. Is it wrong of me to give his friend a chance? We are currently messaging (with his friend) but I’m assuming he will ask me out or something soon and if it does come out that I was speaking to his friend before would I look bad? Again nothing happened so I’m not sure we could even say his my ex but not sure how guys feel about all this

I don't think it would necessarily be wrong for you to give his friend a chance, as long as you're honest about the situation if it comes up. A few things to consider:

- You and the first guy only went on one date and didn't have much of a relationship, so it's not like you're rebounding off an ex. He also seems over it based on how you described seeing him with other girls.

- If the first guy is still immature and partying a lot, he may not be that interested in an actual relationship right now anyways. His friend could be more serious about that.

- As long as nothing romantic actually happened between you and the first guy, I don't think you really "owe" him anything or did anything wrong by talking to his friend.

- His friend probably doesn't know the full history anyways. If things start to get serious with the friend, I'd just be upfront about knowing the first guy originally. But if they're good friends, his friend will understand the situation.

My advice would be to give the friend a chance and see where things go. Don't rule out the possibility of a connection just because of the connection to the first guy. As long as you're honest about things in the end, most guys would understand the situation I think. The friend seems interested in you for you. Good luck!
