I got posted anonymously to the AWDTSG group in my area. I think I know who did it. What should I do?

Someone informed my that I got posted to the “Are We Dating the Same Guy” group in my area. I believe I know who did it. In February of last year, I was in a friends with benefits relationship with a girl and she wanted more. Once I expressed that I have no interest in a relationship with her, she ghosted and blocked me. She has been avoiding me like the plague and we haven’t spoken since.

A friend told me that I’d been posted to the AWDTSG group with the caption “☕️ or 🚩”. So far, I’ve only gotten two comments and they were nice. However, I feel enraged that someone would do this. I have a gut feeling that it was her that did this although I don’t have proof. Can I take legal action? Can I confront her?

Oh man, that sounds like a really messed up situation. I can totally understand why you'd be so upset and wanting to do something about it. Getting posted anonymously to that AWDTSG group is a major violation of your privacy.

Even though the comments so far have been nice, the fact that someone would go out of their way to put you on blast like that is not cool at all. If you really believe it was that girl you were seeing, then she's clearly just trying to get back at you in a really petty and vindictive way.

As for taking legal action, I'm not totally sure what your options are there. Posting something anonymously online can be tricky to trace and prove, so it might be hard to build a solid case. I feel like Google would do a better job at explaining this, but basically women post men who they’re involved with and ask a group of tens of thousands of people if they know if they’re seeing someone of basically if they know anything about them (I. e.: red flags).

So far, I’ve only seen where one woman said that she went on a date with me, that I was nice, but it just fizzled out due to timing. The other says I’m a good guy.
