How would you feel if your daughter was dating one of your friends?

I’d feel like she was making a mistake but it would be hers to make. My job as a father would not be to chastise her , assuming she was legally able to make that decision , but to support her when it fell apart as it most likely would.

It depends on ages, maturity levels, etc.

I have a good friend who is close with a mutual friend; they've known each other for years. This mutual friend happened to be single for some time. The guy met his friend's sister at a party... they fell in love, and a year later, married. I think the friend realizes that this guy (now brother in law, too) is a good dude, and wouldn't try to hurt his sister or anything.

And maybe if there's something the husband needs to be told off about, he'll tell him, that being their type of friendship. (Oh, and they're all close in age, so it's not like this dude is a 40 year old trying to "hook up" with the friend's 18 year old sister or something like that) A bit different, but there's some overlap with the idea.

MY daughter (if I had one...) if the friend was 40, and was just trying to hook up with my (hypothetical imaginary) 19 year old daughter, you'd better believe there would be trouble. I think the friendship would be in danger (and he might be, too) if he was just trying to "hook up" - no relationship - with my 22 year old daughter, though I'd probably just say my peace, and... well, they're two adults... they'd have to deal with whatever consequences (an accidental pregnanacy, maybe an STD somebody hid, that sort of thing). But if I was friendly with a 25 year old dude from church, and he was a good guy, and I knew him, his family, then I'd have less of an issue with him dating my 22 year old daughter, especially if he was respectful, and not influencing her into making some really bad decisions.

I wouldn’t allow it, there would be too much age difference there. My friend and my sister is okay but not my daughter that doesn’t exist yet, no one, not even a friend is coming near my little princess.

Dads don’t allow that to happen. If she does want to mess with an older man then I’ve failed as a parent
