I recently went on a first date with a guy I’ve been chatting with for 8 days. For context, he’s 30 and I’m 28. We initially met on a dating app, and the conversation online had been great—lighthearted, engaging, and a little flirty. When we met in person at a cozy café, I’d say the vibe was surprisingly natural, like we’d known each other for years. Here are some highlights from the date:
Natural Start: I accidentally sat at the wrong table when I arrived as I didn't see him , and he came over to get me, saying he’d reserved got us a spot.. He asked if I wanted anything, and when I playfully told him to get me "anything," he teased me about my tea choice but ended up getting me the same tea he was having.
Great Rapport: The conversation flowed easily with no awkward pauses. We talked about family, work, life, politics, and personal interests like journaling and meditation. We also found we had a lot in common: both introverts, were bookworms in university.
His Humor: He’s super funny and joked a lot during the date. However, he did use "bro" and "dude" quite a bit when making points, and was very passionate in his positions which I found a little surprising on a date. For example, he joked about how my name sounded like a 50-year-old HR worker (LOL), and shared some of his own dating experiences, like once going on a date a few months back at a very loud bar and couldn't hear what his date was saying.
Caring Side: Toward the end, he was very sweet, giving me a tight hug and touching my arm while asking me to text him when I got home so he could make sure I was safe.
Post-Date Behavior: I texted him that I got home safe, and had a good time also I made a short joke that I didn't fall or slide as the weather was pretty bad here ;l He texted me about an hour later saying, "Rofl👍. I just got home as well. I stopped and got some food on the walk back as he walked to the date and back " I replied, and he hasn’t messaged since yesterday evening.
Thanks!
