We separated in the airport, his flight is earlier than mine, it was so difficult to say goodbye… So he looked back 3 times to send me aerial kisses, once from the gate, another time from outside of the airport and the last as he was getting into the airplane. I miss him already, I hope so does he.

I'm glad you clarified that since I was thinking of parting when on bad terms. Airport security doesn't seem to fond of the idea but as soon as my section is called for boarding, I tell her goodbye and will see her if I come back. When she asks about it I tell her this specific airline has rec'd numerous threatening letters. There's a certain tenderness and energy at the airport that I dont think you get anywhere.
People are vulnerable as they travel - hugging, being vulnerable as they sleep before their flight, quietly talking if its late at night. You can feel the energy as the ones parting have so much to say and yearn for more time together.

You also have people arriving and celebrations happening, happy faces, laughter etc.

So many emotions, you look back before getting on that plane because being on a plane whether nervous flyer or not - you always wonder if it be a safe trip. And to have the fresh memory of the face you love makes it easier to bear. And if its a long distance situation - why wouldn't you want to keep looking back and absorb the in person aura, face and essence of the individual you love?
