There was this guy i liked for a long time. We kissed few times. But then i rejected him cuz i met someone else. But i want him to still like me. I would say he is losing interest a little cos for a long time after rejection he was teasing me or making fun of me playfully and just talking to me and stuff. Now i gotta say hi first and mostly initiate every conversation.

If you are committed to your plan, I recommend having some integrity about it. Just tell him exactly what you want. Say that you want him to put his own romanic life on pause indefinitely while you figure out your current relationship such that he might serve as a backup in case you get lonely.

You seem to have an abnormal level of comfort with being honest about this kind of thing, so just keep that up. Stay open and honest about your desires and intentions.
