I know it’s a stupid question. I’m 36 he’s 39. We didn’t actually define the relationship so I’m not sure if it’s a real “breakup” but I’m treating it as such because I was interested enough to date only him without dating anyone else.
Basically he broke up with me and was honest that it really was me (in his opinion). I don’t really want to go into all the details, but he blamed my autism and the fact that I live with my mom (because she has health issues and I take care of her) for the breakup. The kicker is that he knew about my situation- my diagnosis and my housing situation- right from the beginning but all of a sudden it’s a problem for him. If it was that much of a problem why not just cut it off in the beginning instead of letting it go this long and wasting my time. I have autism and adhd together and my symptoms were bad that day. I was making one absentminded mistake after another…not on purpose of course, and I told him it was the disorders causing it but all he kept doing was critiquing me for everything and telling me that I will never be independent because I didn’t know how to use the damn MTA app to navigate the NY public transportation system and because I’m to reliant on my mom for everything (actually my mom relies more on me these days than I do on her). So he breaks up with me because he wants a woman with a normal brain who lives by herself.
I tell him that I’m going NC and he won’t be hearing from me for a while (fighting tears of course) because of feeling emotional, he gets pissy and says he’s emotional because we had a good thing for the past ten months and it was getting serious, but if he really thought it was good, why break up because I had one bad day. If he’s really feeling that emotional about it why break up?
I want to believe he was feeling emotional too. I don’t think most guys would lie about that, but at the same time if he was really feeling emotional then why end it if he didn’t want to. It doesn’t make any sense at all.
