1 yAnyone ever hear of Sodom and Gomorrah? Private Equity, Hedge Funds, and Investment Banking brings together lots of money and entitled assholes with no reason to restrain themselves from their worst instincts.
Dad is bending his secretary over his desk at 8PM. His third wife is seeing 4 therapists and popping the cork on a bottle of wine every day by 10AM while snacking on antidepressants and fucking her tennis instructor orpool boy. The kids are in boarding schools 2 hours away September through June and then sent to camp for the summers.
Meanwhile the young associates are doing lines of coke in the bathroom at work because they're working 16 hour days. When they go out to clubs they are picking up and fucking strippers, waitresses, airline flight attendants, etc. all hoping to hook up with a young guy on a rocketship ride to wealth and power. More coke mixed with alcohol ensures excellent decision making and who knows how many unplanned pregnancies that need to taken care of quietly.
Managing partners are groping the receptionist. The receptionist then gets fired for reporting him.
There's a LOT of mental illness... narcissism, insecurity, sociopathy, lying cheating, stealing, etc. Literally 80% of them are on some kind of prescription drug for depression and anxiety. Including the wives and kids. You can't comprehend it until you've been on the inside.

My professional background is Media and Law.
You can only imagine the joy of trying to form a romantic entanglement with people inclined towards that field.

Yup... I've often wondered what it says about me that I was drawn in the direction I was. Although I would like to think it's to my credit that I find my industries so foul.
1 yOmg we're do I get started. Extremely toxic. I've always work in warehousing and depending age ranges it's very different but all toxic.
Most the young people are all shagging each other and cheating or getting someone pregnant or pregnant themselves fro someone they're not ment to be with.
All the older ones are either chronically single or are divorce more than once.
For myself and the small hand full of regular people just trying to earn some money. They are usually in a long term relationship and just trying to make it by whilst both people are barely seeing each other because of it.

4K opinions shared on Dating topic. Awkward. I myself am like a whirling dervish and always moving so if a guy is gonna actually date me he needs to keep up with my schedule. I’d feel guilty dragging an average Joe into that.
Ironically, guys who have the same sort of schedule as I do ALSO feel the same way, so… there you go.10 Reply

u 1 yI am an attorney. I am married now and my wife is not a member of my profession. When I was dating, I only dated one attorney, and we had a fairly good relationship for two years. We had many mutual friends and acquaintances and we had many common interests. If I was still dating, I wouldn't especially seek other attorneys to date, but that wouldn't dissuade me from dating a girl, either.

1 yAs a female secretary, honestly the world is kind of our oyster when dating. Obviously, we rarely date within the profession, but it's the kind of job that has regular hours, is low stakes, and is relatively low stress (assuming your boss is decent).
While we're not top earners, a lot of men like the non-compete clause built in to this career choice. Even as an Executive Assistant (aka secretary level 4), it's still fairly low in the white collar corporate heircharchy. Sacrifices (childcare, getting home early to cook dinner, other life appointments that have to happen during standard business hours etc) come fairly naturally and our employers are usually accommodating.16 Reply- 1 y
I’ve never understood why men MUST dare someone with less money. I feel like those are the men who are used for money
- 1 y
@summeroflove I think it has less to do with the money, but more about 1. is she coming home stressed, and I'm okay to help her decompress while self managing my own work stress 2. Do I have to actively own aspects of domestic labor to accommodate her schedule 3. Am I willing to stall my own career progression because I prioritize being present for our family over working longer hours or taking on high reward but high stress work assignments.
It's easy to say "I support a woman with a career," and it's another to step up and walk the walk. Unless a man can actively destress her after work and help fill in the gaps, him adding his own work stress into the relationship usually doesn't work. If I was lucky enough to find my passion in a high stakes career, I'd probably date differently, but having selected a low stakes one, I don't mind being the flexible person in the relationship to fill those gaps.

Everyone’s different I get that. Every marriage style has their ups and downs such as I rarely see so called traditional marriages work especially when they’re one sided.
- 1 y
Someone with the right heart can really date anyone they want to. Within reason
- 1 y
But this goes for a LOT of women as well who want to marry rich. But tend to just add to a man’s problems and wonder why these men don’t want her. At least not as a long term partner.
People want to marry someone who has a good career until they do - 1 y
Sadly I see this so often where someone wants someone for money. But can never possess the ability to be a supportive partner. It happens to men but it does happen to women as well.
Some people can fake having a good heart to get what they want and that fades later on
Working freelance and mostly all by myself, there's zero chance of dating.
When I did work in another environment, involving office work or travelling between offices, there was never any clear dating, but you got to know people and a certain degree of flirting was present under the surface.

1 yI know a few couples who meet one another in our industry. However, it is largely an older married male crowd of which most are Jewish or Latin or both. Which if you are neither and meet a single in that demographic it is likely to remain business only.

And annoyingly there's one girl in my work who is probably one of the most attractive women I've seen.

Horrific. I’d honestly say about 90% of people there are cheating on their significant others and they brag about it too.
You’ll be the prettiest one there and the women all HATE you and the men all say foul things about you.
Not the place I’ll be at for much longer.
If you have someone who works in the meat works, I feel bad for you.10 Reply

In my past profession ( Property , New homes , investment) there were a literal plethora of opportunities, it attracts these kind of people , that's how it is , they like to play and party and look it's good fun , wears you out a bit after 25 years , but when I first started.. Wow ! I loved it.
