Is it ever okay to do something bad if it leads to a good outcome? Can you give a personal example?

No, it's never okay to do something bad whether the outcome is good or bad. Like I've been lied to and I know how it feels when someone does wrong things just to achieve something for their selfish reasons.
I don't think I'd be able to sleep at night if I deliberately do something wrong even if the outcome was alright. My conscience simply won't allow that.
If you are ok can we make this interesting, I am asking before I ask as it shouldn't be unwarranted. 😺
I think it depends on how much you're willing to bend your morals for this "good outcome" and the effect it has on other people.
There's definitely a nuance to it.. If it goes against your values and it's something heinous to get a good outcome, then of course not.. Like let's say "rape this woman to get your family out of poverty".. That's not justifiable at all.. But there's also things that may not be bad, but will make you feel conflicted and stun you for life..
Well said
Of course!.. Thanks for MHO!
“Bad” and “good” are subjective.
The philosophies offer some interesting insights and thought experiments that get at the heart of this debate.
“The Good Place” series from Nerdflix actually does a fairly good job of introducing some of the prominent philosophers and their philosophies in a relatable and digestible manner.

I don't know how anything can turn out good if someone had to do something wrong. Wrong is wrong, at least I think so.
So if you had to kill one person to save all of humanity, what would you do?
So you would let the rest of humanity die because you don't want to kill one person?
With my limited knowledge on Christianity would like to keep some points.
So everyone is familiar with the concept of Adam and Eve and eden garden.
So was it the sin that gave knowledge to humans by eating the forbidden apple by the deeds of Eve?
So in short it led to good right the bad deed considered brought something good isn't it so?
Well that sums up the thought process of women of all life time nothing can satisfy women even if you did what she says Eve never takes accountability lol not then not now 🤣🤣🤣
depends on wether you prefer deontological ethics or utilitarianism. if you like deontological ethics, this is not ok. if you prefer utilitarianism, this is perfectly fine.
personally i gravitate more towards deontoloical ethics.
My friend fell over when he was fighting a tweaker skinhead. The skinhead was about to kick my friend in the face with steel toe boots, so I hit him in the back with my trusty cherry picker chain and he ran for his life.
The ends rarely justify the means, as I learned when a shortcut to success cost me my integrity.
I bet a lot of people think that Thanos was right. I sometimes make up my own rules to get something I think is important done.
Good / bad depends solely on the effect it has on other people, not on the law or religious taboos.
Nope. I’ve never been a fan of “the end justifies the means.”
It depends on the scale. If the bad hurts somebody you're getting in a murky area. It's all down to sacrifices.
