I met this guy on bumble during his neurology residency two years ago and we connected extremely quickly and well emotionally and romantically. We only spoke for 2.5 weeks, but got very close & we planned a date to an art museum that he had to cancel due to his busy schedule. Despite the brief time we spent together, and his reassurance that it was because of his residency responsibilities and not due to any fault of mine that he can’t date now, I still think about him constantly and wonder if he remembers me. i don't remember word for word his last message but something like "hey, i don't think im up to going on a date today the past couple weeks have been stressful for me and i don't see things slowing down for me in residency soon. my goals still remain the same, to find genuine love its just not something i can pursue rn - i wouldn't ask you to wait for me. i promise its not vou vouve been amazing,♥️” not sure if he was lying

First off: this was like 2 years ago? And you're still thinking about him like that and you guys barely knew each other for - what - maybe a month or more? That's way too much on your mind.

Second: he could be lying, although it doesn't seem like it, but I do know some people can definitely tailor a pretty good break-up message. Either way, he's not interested then or now. If he was he would be in your life. Take this advice I learned from someone years ago that I still pass on: whoever is meant to be in your life, will be for you. There isn't going to be any funny business or trying to read through any perceived "signs." It will be clear that they want you, and they will show it.

One does not go on those hookup sites to find "genuine love". That is certainly not what most people join hookup sites for.

He tried to get into your pants and something prevented him from doing it or he changed his mind on short notice.

Cancelling a date on such short notice is usually not because of work or something important but because that person has either found someone different or has simply changed their mind about the target person.

He knows very well that for you, waiting for a long time was not something acceptable and that is why is made that statement. It was an ideal excuse to break off that date.
