Girls, has anyone else experienced something similar?

I've been struggling with something for a while now. I'm attracted to a guy who is significantly shorter than me, ugly, and honestly, his personality isn't the best either. He can be moody, selfish, and sometimes downright rude. Despite all this, I find myself drawn to him.

My parents are against him for various reasons and I understand the points they've brought.

I once dated a guy who was 5’5 and me 5’7. I was never a heavy girl but I still felt bigger than him. We dated for 4 months before I couldn’t do it anymore.


What I learned was that if I’ve got to talk myself into feeling good and confident with a guy then he is not for me. Like I would do so much pep-talking, rationalizing, comparing (using popular couples with the woman being taller and trying to mirror her confidence), just to get myself through being seen with him in public as a couple.


You just have to be true to yourself. Don’t settle just because you don’t have options right now or feel lonely, you’ll regret it.

You’re going to do what you want to do but if the guy is moody, rude and selfish that is a huge red flag. He could be being nice to you right now but that can turn pretty quickly down the road

Maybe it's just the intrigue about why he cared for me but didn't seem attracted at all. I used to assume he only sat down with me when I was lonely for attraction, but when I asked him, he said no and that he isn't interested in that way.

That’s a really bad reason to date a guy, just because he doesn’t seem interested in you. On the other hand, he does seem to genuinely care for you, so think about his personality and whether deep down you really like him that way. If you do, good luck to you guys!
