Not at all. I’m happy that I’m pretty decent at it and nothing pleases me more than a crowded table at meal time. Growing up, everyone in my family cooked and my brother does most of the cooking in his household now, in addition to being a partner in an international business, because his wife is a really bad cook! At my household, we tend to all cook together and really have fun with it.
Sounds wholesome 😊
It’s not a turn-off. It’s a necessary question, but since they’re asking then they ought to expect to answer the question in return. Idea: daters need to have at least one date where they cook together.

No, why would that be a thing?
My thought process behind it was I thought some women might be irritated by the question if a guy asks it because it shows the guy likely wants them to be "in the kitchen". They might have seen it as oppressive.
I knew a lot of girls in my college days which said "I don't cook" and they seemed to take pride in it, fighting against "female oppression".
Seems my guess was wrong by the polls results
Well, @HawkPerception
I've known a few who expressed this with that same proud ring of freedom to it!
Because in the age of wokism, inquiring whether or not a woman would dare engage in a traditional role is considered the height of misogynistic misconduct.
It's verboten under penalty of a fine or imprisonment for violating the rules of the speech Nazis on the left.
@RingOfFire Nailed it
Cooking is a great outlet, actually. I get my nice arms from beating dough for the church bake sales.
(@Dongie perhaps if we stop saying “opposite” and start using “complimentary” folks won’t be so cranky and gender wars will end along with all this sort of nonsense…)
No one is bothered when a guy is asked if he can cook? I know folks who are still shocked to see a guy who cooks….
Eeh, take a chill and give a listen to this. They used ta' sing this on the corner up from your place.

Asking that question isn't really a turn-off.
However, it implies that he's hoping for someone capable of feeding him.
Worse, he wants a housewife.
What an ideal guy 😂
All adults should know how to take care of themselves, and learning the basics of cooking is how adults learn how to take care of themselves.
It's not a requirement at 19, but by 25 you should have a decent grasp and by 29 you should be able to assemble good, healthy meals that will get you through a workweek without your breaking your budget..
No why would I? My father was a chef and cooling in our household has always been a ritual. I do however have something to say about how the worthiness of a woman is decided on the basis of whether she can or can't cook. That has always annoyed me.
I've never seen it as a big deal if my partner can't cook, because I've been cooking since about 16 years old pretty much every other day consistently. While I'm no master chef, I'm confident I can follow recipes pretty well.
What bothers me is when a girl says she can't cook or just refuses to cook outright. I see it as more of a fight against femininity. I don't want a partner that tries to compete with men or pretends like women are still oppressed in society. They aren't. Not in the west anyways.
I can't disagree with you on that either. I guess as always balance is key in all things and in all dynamics.
Ah, what dish is your specialty?
Also, do you expect a man to work and make a certain level of money? Mow the yard, fix things around the house, be a decision maker a leader? Stay calm and level headed during a crisis instead of freaking out and becoming an emotional wreck. Be strong and to protect you if a danger arises. I mean, if gender roles offend you then there should be ANY roles for anyone in your relationships.
Not at all. I'm a much better person then you think. Not everything for me is black or white. I don't expect a man to earn more than me, fix everything around the house and protect me. All I desire is a companion who makes me happy. But I guess it's not a free world in which to express an opinion without being labelled as a terrible person because certain thinks may frustrate me sometimes even here on GAG.
You never told me what your specialty meal is? Which of your dad's meals was the one you make the best or at least is your favorite to make.
Spaghetti with zucchini, egg and cheese.
I feel like this is only a turn off too people who can't cook... and if you can't cook wtf are you doing? It's incredibly pathetic to not have a basic human adult skill.
Following a recipe isn't that hard.
Of course not. Cooking is an essential skill that I think ALL adults should have to a degree. Not to mention it's nice when you learn someone's REALLY good at it, right? Who doesn't love a cook?
Why would i?
Cooking is basic skill, especially when u can’t earn a lot money to hire private chef or maid. If you are poor and can’t cook, better just go die…
Why would it be? Every adult should know how to cook at least something. It's an important life skill.
I can cook steak on the grill for special occasions and smoke ribs, but I’m not an indoor cook so if she thinks that I’m gonna be the new cook, she can forget about it because I’m putting a roof over her head for free and that’s more than enough she can help out by cooking
Cooking is one of my skills. I would love it if she asked so I can show her 😊
No. It's a simple question. Cooking is a life skill
No, I like to cook so naturally I want to share it.
Everybody needs to eat so it should be considered a bare minimum to be able to prepare food for yourself. It would be a turn-off to me if someone couldn't even prepare their own dinner.
I would ask why? And then I would say I wouldn’t do such thing for someone who’s not my Husband.
I like good food. If my partner can cook, that's definitely a bonus.
Uhhh... no? Seems like a completely common and casual question to ask, lmfao.
It's a normal question like "can you swim" or "can you speak French". Besides if a person has interest in you as a woman he wants to know if you could cook a meal for your future together kids.
Seems like the question is targeted mostly at women, since they are the ones who might get offended, thinking the guy wants a traditional housewife kind of girl.
Why would it be a turn off? I'm happy cooking, could probably be better. Would happily cook together
no. I do not mind talking about my limited experience in the kitchen.
If they can cook too, I would think it's a valid ask.
I only cook fast food
No. It's not. I would love to talk about cooking stuff.. cooking is a basic skill one must know.
No, I don't see why would that be a turn-off.
No.. they just may be trying for a convo or are curious
I love to show my cooking ans baking skills
No, I can cook... I was a sous chef from a year
No, I'm a pretty good cook
Yes because I can't cook.
What do you do for food?
@HawkPerception
I live with parents who can cook.
No that seems like a normal question lol
Why would that be a turn off
No, because I can
No as I love to cook.
