Buffy/Angel or Dawn/Spike. Who made the hotter couple in Buffy?

Dawn/Spike would have been problematic given Dawn was supposed to be about 15. Even with Buffy/Angel the fact she was a minor was always problematic. When Liam was turned to Angelus he was supposed to be early 20s. Even that to a highschool junior wasn't just "edgy" for Joss Whedon to write.

By the last season, with Buffy in her 20s and Dawn being a senior so presumably 18 Spike/Dawn might have been ok, but I always thought Spike/Buffy was the best match. He actually went out to restore his soul in the hope she could return his feelings. The rivalry between Spike and Angel in the last season of Angel was brilliant. Their personalities worked brilliantly, they just weren't good fits for either of the Summers girls.

I thought Dawn and Spike should have been together, but they barely touched on that storyline and Spike shut it down because he was into Buffy, though Buffy never really loved Spike. Dawn (Michelle Trachtenberg) was much more attractive and cute compared to Buffy (Sarah Michelle Gellar), but both were good. I thought Faith should have ended up with Riley.

Wasn't dawn like 16 when Spike and her had that storyline? He was like late 30's. That's creepy. I never watched past the 5th season.

Sarah Michelle Gellar was 17 when filming began and 19 when Buffy the Vampire Slayer first aired in 1997. She was 26 at the time of the show's finale in 2003.
