What's the most effort you've put in to impress a girl/guy?

I told this girl if she dated me I'd stop smoking in 2 weeks. She didn't believe me but I convinced her to give it a shot. I stopped in 10 days. It was kinda cute because she used to keep a pack on her so that if we were out with people who smoked or I was stressed out she would surprise me with one.

I went to the college where she just graduated from and went to the library and got a copy of the yearbook. I went through the whole thing until I found her picture. I then went to the library in her town and got the local telephone book and looked up her phone number and address. (this was long before the internet) for good measure I drove by her house and saw her car in the driveway so I knew I had the right place.

It took me 2 or 3 days to work up the nerve to just call her on the phone and ask her out. At first she was not thrilled with me calling her and she asked me how I got her phone number. She purposely did not tell me her name but she did tell me where she went to school and that she just graduated. I told her the story about the yearbook and how I got her phone number. She was actually pretty impressed but she took a job in another state and was leaving in a couple of days. We did meet up again in about a month and decided we would try to date. We got married 18 months later.

I changed my hairstyle once. But that's when I was younger. I was kind of foolish then. I mean I wait cologne etc. But I do that for me and everyone else as much as her. So I'm not doing it for her. In fact I'm quite adamant about NOT changing who I am. Why would I? I'm adorable.😆 and I'm still going to be tomorrow and the next day and so on. Why change who you are? The most effort I’ve put in was showing up consistently, being intentional with my time, and actually listening.

I’ve learned that performance fades fast, but presence doesn’t.

I don't remember some of the past stuff, but I made a girl that works in the office upstairs a jar of fire roasted habanero and pineapple hot sauce yesterday and she loved it

She always say hi to me on her way in when I am outside and always looks happy to see me, so I started talking to her. I left her alone for like a year because she works with a bunch of millionaires and her company's clients are all millionaires, I was thinking "what would she want with an old bum like me
?" I got a case of habaneros from the produce delivery guy who delivers to our restaurant. I gave her a few of them and told her how to make the pineapple hot sauce and she seemed excited. When she took the habaneros home her Mexican mom stole them and did who knows what with them hahaha. I decided to make her the hot sauce because she was looking forward to making it. Her face lit up like a Christmas tree and she gave me a big hug and now I smell like her perfume. She was so happy.

I created a really nice love song for my girl, and I think I scored some major brownie points with her, because she said to me that when she listened to it tears welled-up in her eyes, and then she told me that she loves me.
