Who agrees that older age doesn’t always mean the power dynamic is in their favor?

I recently met a couple who was 29M and 23F. The 23 year old woman is bossing him around and saying she’s the best he’ll ever hope to get. I later learned the man suffered severe CPTSD long ago (so he likely can’t fight back well).

Its safe to say who wears the crown there.

A lot of people quietly agree with that.

Age can bring experience, but power comes from confidence, boundaries, and self respect. Someone younger who knows their worth can hold more power than someone older who relies only on their age.

Power in relationships isn’t about years , it’s about how each person carries themselves and what they’re willing to accept.

It is an inhérent Power dynamic but it doesn’t exist in a vacuum so there are other factors like income level, mental health status, disabilities etc that can invert the power dynamic since they can be bigger factors sometimes. This is one reason why people are more chill about women dating younger men than men dating younger women.


That said there is an inhérent Power imbalance with an âge gap and the younger partner is at a significant disadvantage and risk.

Someone older might be insecure, avoidant, manipulative, or unsure of themselves. Age doesn’t guarantee wisdom or stability.
