Do older people realize their views don't work anyone?

Every time my great-aunt and a couple older relatives come, they try to reinforce their views on me. That's annoying.

For instance they think after finishing lunch with my family, I should excuse myself with a thank you, it was great. Whatever. They expected me to help wash the dishes and not just wash my dish I've eaten from. It's not my job to wash someone else's dish.

They heard me once arguing with my parents last year (I was 17) and both were shocked. They kept going on explaining about their days and how backtalking was an immediately slap. I don't consider it backtalking but regarding expressing your opinion and feelings on something you don't agree. I replied to them with a ''Well then, I'm going to call the cops if someone hits me for expressing myself. I'm a person, not an object or dog that submits. I'm not going to be saying yes to everything''.

It's like they are stuck back in time. Do they realize their ideas and views ain't going to work anymore?
