Absolutely. We all have strengths and weaknesses. We all have a history of how we came to be who we are. Goodness knows that I do.

So long as someone can and wants to be fully present with me, grow together with me and vigorously pursue together a life we both have reason to value, none of that background noise matters. At all.

Of course we still need to have a fair degree of compatibility of values, and an interest or two we might learn to share is a bonus. etc. But none of that is related to mental illness.

Considering that most of the fellows I've encountered are already unusual I would say it depends. I'm not as patient now as I was in my 20s or 30s.

My girlfriend and I both have adhd. It works well because we understand why we can be forgetful. It isn't one person getting irritated about the others small mistakes, like going to the store and forgetting a thing or two. Even though they were told what to get 20 minutes ago lol.

We also have days where we want to be very social, then out of nowhere we spend a couple days at home talking to nobody. Both of us just understand that we have days where we just crash, and what's good is we don't have to explain why to anyone.

I would be a hypocrite if I wouldn't date someone with a little mental problem. I think if we were all honest with ourselves, we all got mental problems. But I feel that there are some mental problems that you need to avoid. You don't want to be dating someone that is dangerous to themselves and others.
