Depends on the disorder I guess.
Phobic disorder, OCD, social anxiety, PTSD are generally fine
Most anxiety or stress based disorders are fine. I can support them through it while they go for therapy. Autistic spectrum is also fine.
However, personality disorders are where it gets troublesome. The above mentioned ones are ego dystonic disorders, aka, the person knows there's something that's causing trouble for them. But for personality ones, it's ego syntonic, the person sees nothing wrong with their condition. If my partner has that, and don't give in to therapy, I won't stay cause something like schizoid or sociopathic disorders could be very toxic to a partner having to deal with it.
Now with more advanced disorders like schizophrenia and Bipolar are very tricky, especially if it causes violent tendencies. I wouldn't date them cause I'd priotise my safety.
I think everyone I dated has had some form of mental illness, but I would never recommend anyone to of course to date a psychopath, sociopath or narcissist in particular, kinda the whole thing on the Antisocial personality disorder spectrum as they call it these days. Cause they will aim to destroy you, both awarely and unaware.
This is hard to answer for a couple reasons.
1. What type of mental illness? I’d be willing to put up with depression, anxiety and such. But if we’re talking about Psychosis, or schizophrenia for example…. hard no.
2. Are they willing to try to get better? Or are they gonna depend on me to keep them happy and be their reason for living?
3. As someone who also has mental illness (bipolar depression) I’m not sure if 2 mentally ill people will be able to get very far. If anything there should at least be a balance somewhere.
The funny thing is so many people who say they wouldn’t probably are or have dated someone with a mental illness as mental illnesses exhibit themselves differently with each person so they are not obvious for everyone. Hell, the person saying they wouldn’t could have one themselves. I have before but they had things under control. Mainly anxiety.

Why would I reject another mentally ill person if I'm also mentally ill
there is a youtube channel called "therapy in a nutshell" I don't know if it can help but it has lots of interesting videos relating to mental health www.youtube.com/channel/UCpuqYFKLkcEryEieomiAv3Q
I have. I seem to attract them. Must be my empathy and understanding.
One paranoid schizophrenic. Developed at 25 and got progressively worse.
Two Bipolars. One I knew of, the other hid it until she couldn't hide it any longer.
I tried with all. I really did.
Most people have some form of mental illness... if you're not okay with that that is going to limit like 90% of the population.
"Mental illness" covers a wide range of problems from occasional depression to OCD to borderline/histrionic personality disorder to psychosis. Some can be tolerated, others would end up consuming my life.
It would depend on many things such as what is the mental illness, are they being treated, what kind of treatment, etc. However I would date someone with a mental illness.
I have mental illness so I couldn't reject someone just bc they did too
It depends how crazy she was. If she was just a little crazy I would not mind but if she heard voices that told her to kill I would not want to be around.
I would date someone with mental illness, but it depends how it affected them.
I have. I can be really hard. Especially if they aren’t seeking out the proper treatment. But it can also make them very open and vulnerable which is a great quality.
I married that whacko.
Never doing that again.
She used her condition as an excuse for being mean and caustic.
Horrible woman.
No way. After the experience I had dating one three years ago, I’d never do it again.
Actual...
I have Schizophrenia and I'm married to someone with OCD, Depression, and Anxiety. If we can make it work then anyone can.
if your a heterosexual man, what choice do you have?
Probably not. Jodi Arias and Brynn Hartman were about as close as I'd like to get to today's mentally ill woman.
I would if it isn't too advanced. Because I am also mentally ill. But my illness good thing is that I never tend to harm anyone.
I dunno, between me and her that would be jamming a lot of crazy into one relationship
I definitely would as long as they are trying keep it under control and are getting help.
As long as I can trust them to be honest, not harm themselves or me
So long as they don't use their mental illness as a justification to be an asshole or abusive.
I can definitely handle them I know how to interact with them but to actually have to deal with one oh god no
I would only date someone that I was compatible with..
Minor with hope of getting better, yes, otherwise no.
Since I’m mentally ill thats just a catastrophe waiting to happen.
I have DEFINITELY spent time in and out of the sack with women who needed therapy.
I wouldn't date a schizophrenic. I would date someone with mild depression or anxiety.
I wouldn't mind dating someone with mental illness as long as they have virtues.
if it's something severe nty
Yes, or I would be a hypocrite
I have and never again
No, I want a relatable girlfriend.
Depends on the type of illness and how severe.
I’m mentally ill myself
Depends on the mental illness.
So you mean like “would I date a female” 😂
Depends if there getting treated
Nope never , very difficult to handle
Depends on how functional they are about it.
People are people
