Why do women prefer texting instead of phone calls or meeting up?

I prefer texting tbh. I know it's probably not ideal to most people but I like to get to know someone before meeting up. This goes for potential partners or just friends. It took me about 3 weeks of texting with my now boyfriend before a call happened and about a month before we met up. Part of that was because I just happened to be on vacation so it prevented a meeting anyway, but yeah, I just feel more comfortable with texting for a while first. It hasn't really been a problem with anyone so far.

I can't get to know somebody by texting them, and it just irritates me.

Why can't you get to know them? It's like a phone call without a voice behind it. If anything it allows for greater flexibility in responses for some people like myself who are a bit more awkward in social situations and way more comfortable in text/writing.

I need to see the whole person, or at least hear their voice. If I can hear their voice, there's a lot I can infer from inflection and tone and other things. If I can see them, it has a lot to do with body language as well as what they actually say, how they say it, their eye contact, etc. I don't really want to try and figure out who somebody is or what's going on with them based on what they type on a little screen.

People who don’t know me well, sometimes think I ignore them. I don’t. Just don’t enjoy texting, see no point of it, I only text when I am in a relationship and that’s a huge attention from me because I am so uninterested in texting. I have people to answer, it’s difficult to give everyone a time and then not just once but keep doing that all the time as it’s expected that if you text - you keep doing it…

I think it’s individual. Good sides of texting are - I can think of better answers then I would impulsively come up with in a phone call.

You should stop texting altogether. If you want to communicate with someone, you do so. If you don't, then don't do so. Texting is just half-ass crazy.

And I won't complain because I enjoy, tremendously, this form of communication. It gives me so much space to expand, at the right pace. Over the years, it has become my favorite way to get to know someone.

I was doing online dating for years. I quickly learned that if there was any interest, we needed to meet. It's possible to have a month of pleasant correspondence, only to meet and discover that there is no attraction. Then I made it a policy to only correspond enough to set up the first meeting.

I will admit I was one of those women that preferred texting over phone calls but my ex got me out of that and I'm glad he did because talking on the phone is so much better.

Meeting up often wasn't/isn't an option as we are 2 hours away from each other but calling is better than texting, I will agree.

I prefer calls over texts. It easier for me to talk about something during a phone call than a bunch of texts that can be misleading.
