Is it normal to avoid dating until I have a job?

Please don't wait. You could skip right over the love of your life. Not having a job is totally fine as long as you are looking or have some legit reason for not having a job. There is nothing to be embarrassed about.

Don't defeat yourself before you even meet the person. Meet them first, then see how it goes. As long as you are sincerely looking, any guy who thinks it's a negative is not worth being with.

That's a very low priority for me. I looked and applied for a stable job for a while, but got tired of it. I currently make more than enough to cover my expenses and add a little to my savings, and I value my independence and time just as much as money. I'd want to meet my partner before I find a longterm career, because I don't want her to value me for my earning potential. Also, I'll be significantly more motivated to find something more stable if that ever occurs.
