I doubt men need women any more than women need men. Some guys just want us around for sex purposes because their libidos aren't in check but they see no other purpose for us. That being said, the good men out there do see a desire to have us in their lives just as we do for some of the men that are special to us. I still wouldn't call it a need, but desire or want is more apt.

Let me put it this way. You need to breathe to live. You generally don't need a man/woman to live, save maybe a medical professional who is saving your life in an emergency. You want someone in your life to love and be with, but you dont need it to survive.

I dont think anyone NEEDS anyone else the way you are implying. Men don't need women. Women don't need men. However, both WANT the other in their life at some point whether it be a parent, sibling, partner, friend, or even just an employee. Need implies their life would end or something drastic like that if the opposite gender wasn't in their life.

Like I said, need is something oxygen or food. Want is something different.

Nah, I agree with the other women. We don't NEED men in our lives, but some of us LIKE/WANT men in our lives. Need makes it sound like we have to have men for our survival or well being which is just not true.

I've seen some posts saying that we need men for protection against predators, but in a vast majority of those cases it's men being the predators so if men weren't around then we wouldn't have an issue.

One post on here talks about "creepy crawlies" as though all women are just completely unable of dealing with them which is ludicrous.

Another lines about who makes our phones (which would be women and children in a lot of sweat shops around the world). If he meant design then we are capable of that too.

We were the ones who began things like Wi-Fi/GPS, medication for cancer, radiation research, as well as many contributions to biology, chemistry and physics. This is not to mention other inventions that were stolen by men or had to be submitted by men in order to get patents back in the day where women couldn't submit them.

Men overvalue themselves in a lot of ways, but that doesn't mean we don't want them in our lives. We aren't just so beholden on them to survive in this world

That's also not how alimony works. It takes from the primary breadwinner to supplement the living expenses of the other partner. Men absolutely need women in their lives. Women complement men and all of the right ways. They know how to temper men, they know how to flatter men and massage their egos and tempers at the right time. They are there for their man when they’re at their lowest, and provide that source of comfort and reliability that every person has to have when they get up every day. In other words, the same reason a woman would need a man over the course of the long-term. It’s easy to say that here today you don’t need anybody but what is gonna happen when you’re in your 40s or 60s? The bad boys don’t look so appealing anymore. So yes men absolutely need women and I think the reverse supplies as well. I know my life has been better from the women I’ve known and met and dated. Sure there’s been some really bad people out there, but that applies to everyone.

Beyond that, the meaning I see in my life is the connection I build with other people. Yes, women I love when I am fortunate to have a partner. But also my children, my friends, even brief but meaningful interactions with people outside my friendship circle.

Yes, my life would be lessened significantly without women in my life. Even if you are homosexual, and that's fine with me, you have the opportunity to learn and grow from people that have different life experiences than you, which includes differences in gender.
