Would you marry a guy who is extremely lazy and unambitious?

Imagine you meet your dream man. He is everything you've ever wanted. BUT he is the laziest person you've ever met. He doesn't do laundry unless he ran out of clothes. Doesn't do dishes unless there are absolutely no more bowls to use. Doesn't take out the garbage until the entire house starts to smell like rot. He has no ambition and has no big plans for his future. He is too lazy to read or study to further his career. He doesn't care to invest to grow his money or is interested in financial planning at all. The only thing he likes to do is overspend on food and spend all his time playing video games after work. His room is a mess and he never cleans.

You love him enormously but will you ever settle for a guy like this ever?

Your standards seem to be incredibly low. This guy sounds like a walking disaster. I assume he's good looking and good in bed. That'll fade. You're gonna have a tough life with that guy. Chaos and uncertainty will be your constant companions. Adjust your expectations accordingly.

Do you live with him or are you even in a relationship with this guy? The garbage and dishes issue are ridiculous, but it seems like a normal single guy. I have some of those issues with ambition and being messy, but I know I'm going to have to make significant changes if I find the right person.

people like that don't tend to change. The most they can do is change for a few months, once they meet someone new that they're excited about. Then after that, they will resort back to their old ways and habits. Then this is when the breakups, resentment and divorces happen.

It is very hard to change old habits, especially if you have been doing it for many years.

The only thing you CAN do is to find someone who shares your bad habits, messiness, dirtiness, laziness, and lack of ambition. They would be more likely to accept you. Someone who is hard working and disciplined and successful will not respect you

That is an awfully presumptuous response, and you seem very close minded. Do all people change? No, but some certainly do. And if they do, they need an incentive. Ideally, your partner will make you want to be better. Being messy and dirty are different things. I do have plenty ambition, but it's only towards my personal goals.

It just gets old seeing this common tell over and over again. And rather then own your failure you take it out on those who try to help.
