Make an off the wall comment. Shock them. See if they'll play. When you have them laughing, excuse yourself and make your exit. Never overstay your welcome. Always leave them wanting more, not less. Go back a time or two over the course of the night. Tell them their flirting skills suck. Laugh and walk away. Maybe they come over to you and insult you right back. Maybe you now have a group of girls you've broken the ice with. Lots of small interactions. maybe it goes somewhere. Maybe you just have more people to hang out with. Maybe you just had fun filling up your evening with them.

I think a lot depends on what they are doing. If they are eating for example, I would not interrupt them. If they are just hanging out talking then you can interject and just say excuse me, could I talk to you for just a moment.

I think you just need to use common sense depending on the situation the girl and her friends are in. When in doubt, ask yourself if you would be annoyed being interrupted in the same situation.

I think like I mentioned in my opinion. A simple excuse me could I talk to you for a moment would work. I have been with friends before and had someone do that. I stopped talking with friends and stepped aside.

Now it wasn't about someone being interested but all the same, it worked.

I tried approaching group by complement but her friends got jealous and took her away.
