Is getting the ick from dirty nails and onion breath too picky?

The guy I’m seeing sometimes has dirty fingernails (not all the time, though), and he’ll try to kiss me right after eating onions and eggs 😭 He always takes a shower, but I still get the ick. I don’t know if I’m being weird or overly picky. Is this normal?
