Nail peeling but only on thumbs?

Overall I have pretty strong nails that don't break easily, aren't brittle and look very healthy but for some reason only nails on my thumbs keep peeling no matter the length.

I work in laboratory so I use latex gloves and wash my hands often but I also use tons of hand cream and make sure my hands stay hydrated.

if only thumbs then the latex is protecting and different cause. i suggest adding a layer of lac or polish to thumb nail to support them
