I've just started seeing this guy and I think I want to text him just to show I'm interested. We're going out tomorrow and usually he texts me first but I'd like to say something to him so he knows I'm interested :)

You could ask something completely bland like "Isn't it beautiful outside today?", and chances are that'll be the highlight of the guy's day ;)
