What does umm ok mean in a text?

I texted him saying i didn't want to be friends with him anymore and he said umm ok.

well it's 2 posibilities:
1. He was either trying to express his confusing as to why this is happening.
2. He couldn't give a rat's ass that you decided to stop being his friend "whatever girl, i don't need you... you need me, so if you think it's better to cut me off, fine by me. why the hell did you need to tell me that anyway. I don't care. Bye"

THIS is the reason people should communicate IMPORTANT things face to face: because his voice inflexion, tone of saying things would have offered way more clues to what he meant.
SO next time use face to face communication.
