Have you ever accidentally snitched on someone?

Question

I'm almost done with my degree , I'm a uni student.
I have a classmate in her 40s who was cheating on the 100 question test today with her phone out.
Although I know these things are common, I couldn't believe my eyes !

Before I proceed ladies and gentlemen,
Let me ask you this ,
Do you want a future nurse caring for you that cheated her way to a degree? Think about it , when your life is in her hands.

Anyway, so class finished. I started talking to one of my classmates about what happened.
I heard a "What?" behind me.
It was my professor she wanted to know the persons height , clothing , hair color etc.
She pulled me back into the room to tell her.

In a sense I felt horrible.
Because you know , nowadays people act like the person who snitched is worse than the person who committed the wrong doing.

Lol.

Hmm... when I think about it, no I have not. I've told friends about some people who cheated, but have never accidentally told someone like that. However, people have asked to cheat off me before and I gave them an "😑" stare and told them no lol.

Hey, don't feel bad about what you did. I'd say the main reason people don't report everyone is because they are afraid of getting judged for doing it. The right thing to do is to technically report on them, but societal pressures get to us first. It will help her in the long run most likely. No one is going to want an unqualified nurse for the job-- she'd never be able to advance through the ranks being crappy at her job anyway (if they have ranks?). Also, you are right-- no patient is going to want a person who cheated their way to the degree.

My bad nurse story:
So I broke my wrist sophomore year of high school and had to get surgery on it to correct it. Because of that, I have a scar on my wrist. They stitched it up and all that. The time came though to remove stitches that were in there, so I went down to the hospital or whatever and a nurse came to pull them out. Before, one nurse inspected my wrist with a glove on... This one was different.
She came in without gloves, with the plier or whatever to pull the stitches out. She had long painted nails that probably wouldn't allow her to wear gloves anyway. She tried pulling my stitches out with the pliers... failed for some minutes because they kept slipping. Then she got frustrated and just started using her dirty unwashed fingernails to pull them out over my not-100%-healed wrist. She did a little scratching of it to try and loosen them. All the while she was giving this attitude off like she hated her job :/

Not cool. She was not a cool nurse. If snitching that person out meant she wouldn't become a person like that nurse, please snitch them ALL out.

I don't want no nurse who cheated on test to treat me at the local ER.
so i support you on this 100 % .. Yes you did what i would do , if i saw
someone doing something that could possibly cause future injury to me
i would snitch on them.
Example: This guy lives on the back street from me well one day he
was coming home from work and he smashed into a telephone pole
he walked away from a scene of a accident and what did i do i call 9-11
but the police came to my house and took info from me but you see if i let
that man go and not snitched on him maybe that could of been a kid that
his vehicle killed so yes in some stands we got to snitch on people
but in your case you did what you could and couldn't get away without
snitching and again i think in many cases in the medical field this does happen
you ever see these doctors that all they do is throw a bunch of pills to patients
and never send them for any test we had quite few doctors like that where we live.

I'm taking engineering course, and most of the time my friends will prepare all the possibility to write anything (in their body, cloth, water bottle, scientific calculator...) for our final examination in order to get a better grade and of course, to pass the subject.

but I always believe integrity is the best thing that we need to have in self, karma is always there, that's life. and also becoz I don't want to look stupid when the time I have the real job after graduate, the grade's not reflecting the real me (yeah also, engineering projects require analytical thinking and theories involved as well in order to make sure the equipment is working without any hazard to men). I would rather fail for the subject I'm weak than cheating tha I'm good in the examination.

honestly, I can say that, most of my "cheater" friends having trouble in their current company as they're too slow in understanding and execute an engineering job. I'm in a good condition in my engineering company as every hardship/efforts to understand the subject learnt in my university, luckily applied in my job scope. So the point is, never cheat, you will never know what are you capable of in real life.

You corrected an injustice, I don't even call that snitching.
It's just a shame you didn't talk to the teacher directly, but fortunately she overheard the conversation. Hopefully you were able to identify the culprit to a T :D

Don't feel sorry for doing the right thing.
Due to peer pressure, in school we are always prone to take our colleagues side even though they're doing something wrong, but hey you're old enough to know life does not, or should not work that way.

Yup. My friend's dad bought her an 1000 dollar camera behind her mom's back, and when her mom was right there, we were talking about a fireworks display and I said (very loudly), "I bet you could take some great pictures with your camera!"

Very awkward silence and staring. I tried playing it off by mentioning how her phone's camera is a lot better than mine blah blah blah, but unfortunately, that friend can't play anything off for her life.

Don't feel too bad. That's something people need to learn if they are having other peoples lives in their hands. Besides the teacher and administration when they pull the student in aren't going to go "[your name] called you out for being a cheater here's here address and a list of her greatest fears for in case you want revenge" they keep the informant anonymous always. Also yeah cheating in college is a no no.

Lol, to your update, yes. People on this site don't care about actually answering a question. They just like the Xper points. I think I have snitched on someone before, but I can't remember the exact incident. I felt bad about it too, though, haha. But, they deserved it. Honestly, sometimes you have to snitch. Snitches /=/ bitches.

But don't wory about your situation. You are in uni so nurses at that point should be taking things seriously... By cheating on a phone she would put people's life in jeopardy.
And the students studied for that test so it isn't fair.

i wish i did

during an exam one time, there was this guy who kept looking over at me. later i found he copied all my answers. the only saving grace (depending how you look at it), was that i read the test incorrectly, so ended up getting most of the questions wrong! so in the end he ended up getting the same crappy score i did.

Well intelligent questions get less answers but they are coming in now. I am not a snitch and never accidentally snitched but I would say it's all good because I agree I would prefer a nurse that knew her material and did not cheat would be a better choice to have them care for me.

If you are working on a question in the class its ok to look at it and then work through it. If its like a test or exam then that's not cool. People still do it though.

I was an intelligence officer in a paramillitary once and we were supposed to meet informants in informal settings; bars, etc. And after a few drinks I did get the informants mixed up and say something about someone else to another person. But they all knew that we deal with many people without them knowing and quickly reminded me that it was another guy.
