I'd say it's a bit extreme. I've had trouble with working as well but I wanna try and find my own way maybe do something independent or work less. Atm I'm not working I finished an apprenticeship in the summer and the disability insurance people have to decide if I'm capable of working a "real job" now.
But this has been the best time of my life. I've made so much progress because I set my own structure and practiced being productive without anybody telling me what to do. I'm doing a lot of fitness stuff and it's giving me more energy and making other things easier. I've matured more emotionally but I still have a long way to go on that front. I feel like I'm just starting to become an adult maturity wise and I'm 30. Last year I was like 14 emotionally speaking. It hasn't been easy being fully capable on a cognitive level but still being a child in other ways. Especially because I wasn't even diagnosed till I was 29. I haven't been an adult but I still had to take on adult responsibilities or at least try.
My psychiatrist also says this free time is great for me. Right now I'm focusing on keeping my structure and the momentum I have but in the future I do want to fit making YouTube videos into my schedule. Something I've wanted to do for a long time but there were too many problems in my life that kept me from doing it. But I'm getting closer and closer I can feel it.
Looking at it in a way where your only choices are working a full time job or death won't get you anywhere you have to look at what you can do and what you want to do and find a way to get there. Work on yourself, get to know yourself better, what is your identity? What do you want to do? You have to answer these questions on a deep level not just what am I in the mood for today but who you are at your core and when you do that you'll have your direction to go in.
I've been trying to improve and pushing myself for so long before I even knew what direction I wanted to go in or only had general ideas but couldn't realize them.
I'm not doing this out of obligation or because society says you should contribute I'm doing it because I think it's the best way for me to live. I want to make the most out of my life and be able to tell myself I did a good job with what I had.
Sometimes I have realizations and I feel like I should have been working on this thing I just realized ages ago and I feel kind of sad and I feel like I'm behind but I can't stay like that so I just try and see it positively that I learned something new and keep moving forward. that's all you can really do, saying you'd rather die than work how is that going to get you anywhere? It's basically just like a kid that lies on the ground in the store until it gets candy. If you don't want to work what do you want to do? That's the real question.
Opinion?
I'd question the state of their mental health.
My action?
I'd let them know that there's a better way to live. If they were to ask for help in doing that, I'd be more than happy to help them get started, but the person has to ultimately do it for themselves.
How could they change that mindset?
Cut them off from whatever undeserved support they're getting. They'll start thinking about it very quickly.
Should they?
To be momentarily harsh, I'd say there might be a willing host for every leech. If the parasite can find one, both the host and parasite have to live with the results of that situation.
Otherwise, self respect feels pretty good. Unfortunately, there are people who've never experienced self respect and have no idea of the rewards it brings.
That's a big hurdle to get past, to convince someone that there's a better way to feel about themselves.
I think that is attainable for all but a very small number of people who are very mentally incapacitated.
I’d encourage them to find a path that is fulfilling. Some people simply don’t want to work for someone else, don’t want a desk job, etc. But I feel like in this day and age, there are so many opportunities to work for yourself, and all kinds of careers. Even remote work could be lucrative and/or exciting. It’s all about perception and taking control of your life. But wanting to die because you don’t want to work? I simply can’t agree with that. There are too many people in this world fighting for their lives and would give anything for the opportunity to work.
I know someone who is exactly like that. They just suck up your money and lives in the basement of their parents house. These kind of people run from their responsibility and doesn't want to grow up.
Ye ain't have to do me liek dat

Work is actually better for you than people realize. Look at those that retire... They try to go back to work. Why? Because it's boring and purposeless. It actually makes you even more depressed because I had the good fortune to experience it. Worst time of my entire life, having nothing to do. Staying busy is the best thing you can do for yourself
Somebody was like nu uhhhhhhh
do you mean a person who is happy to live off the state or a person who shuns the notion of state rule and lives off grid away from it all without feeling the need to conform to the traditional concept of working for someone else to profit from? the former is a basic lazy cunt in my mind but the latter is something we should all consider as an alternative to the rat race
they should take up their "druthers", or find a way to give something back to society without having to work... they didn't get to be that old without "taking" something from life, so they should be contributing something in return...
You know I’m a “nice” guy who has questioned the value of my existence more than once. I have considered checking out a few times. Especially given my romance life has been not what I told it could be when I was younger.
You mgtow?
No. I left out some context here. I’ve been in relationships the longest lasting a year. But I given my overall “nice” disposition I feel like it’s a much harder to find a decent girl who has romantic interest and I’m usually getting tested/exploited with friendzone bullshit. I have to have my guard up at all times and it just sucks. Really sucks.
But came to the conclusion that I am going to relocate to another country for a few months after the new year. My surroundings and environment is really a slow death. It’s depressing me and making indulge in self destructive behaviors. I also avoid contact with long time friends, acquaintances and even family out of fear of criticism for being single. I’ve been hearing that shit all of my life. I used to just to just change the subject, laugh or say “I don’t care” but it’s getting jarring. They act like finding a perfect woman is a light switch for single men. You and I know nothing could be further from the truth.
Getting angry and hating women will never accomplish anything even if your right and justified for grievances. But I’m literally losing money in a slot machine where I’m at. I might hit a small jackpot here or there but the payouts don’t justify the investment. Just continuing to put money, time and effort in hopes I’ll hit the progressive jackpot is extremely foolish.
But the problem is I have known people who have hit the huge jackpot. You can’t compare yourself to a lottery winner nor should a lottery winner consider themselves “better/smarter” vs the unlucky majority. But unearned luck has a way of going to your head.
I literally live off my father's money so I can fuck all day and never work even though I have a masters degree. So my opinion is good for them
@wankiam - oooo what sport is that?
Thank you 😂 just noticed we all have cat avatars
You sure about that? They call mine Thicholas Cage 😂
They’re hiding behind their fear! To say something like that is just a mask to act like they don’t care when actually they are too afraid to get a job for fear of failure.
Not necessarily. I know someone who feels that way, but they still work.
But if they say they would rather die than work then why are they still alive? I don’t mean that to sound like they should do something awful. Just I think proof that they don’t mean it.
If that person says they would rather die than work then they are making no sense and essentially lying! Because they are working instead of dying! 🤷🏻♀️
Lmao at the update
Because most answers are "who cares" lol
😂😂😂
There's a word for those people in English. "Scousers"
Don't care, probably high five them 😂 ask them how they get food on the table?
My opinion is that they should do is all that favour. World's gonna be a better place if they do at least one useful action.
Let them starve to death. It was their choice.
As the Bible says: If a man will not work, neither should he eat.
If I was running the country, where would be no welfare for the able bodied.
There would always be a shovel that had their name on it, on capital works projects.
For those who had physical impairments, there would be support roles.
People would not be paid welfare to sit on their arses and do nothing of value to society.
The Biblical reference:
2 Thessalonians 3:10
For even when we were with you, we gave you this rule: "The one who is unwilling to work shall not eat."
Is that the opinion your daddy told you to have lest you get the belt?
Ooooohh I can hear the snap of leather through fucking space-time 🤣
Why? Because if you saw one you would open your fucking neck out of pure shame?
Nah, you can find a job that isn't too bad if you look hard enough.
But I will admit most jobs are absolutely horrendous and wages are stagnant and don't adjust to inflation.
They may say that but almost always it is false. Otherwise, they would be dead because people will do anything for some food when they are hungry enough.
Then go ahead and die.
If they can support themselves then I don't give a shit but if they want to live off of everyone else then just kill yourself already
So you're saying this person makes a living without working, or they simply do not make a living?
A person who would rather die than work for a living?
By all means, let them choose the first option.
Even if it was a family member, I can understand feeling that way for a specific job because you don't like it, I'd be totally supportive of them to find a career they enjoy. But somebody who just doesn't want to work at all? Generally the people I've seen doing this are lazy and unmotivated and will leach off others for resources and will expect others to take care of them while they contribute to nothing.
So I stand by my original statement.
I get it. Most people don't work a job they like. The monotony of life can wear on a persons will to live.
i think they are really intelligent since life is meaning less in the long run , the only problem most of us don't have the balls to go through the suicide
They have an independent spirit. That's a positive thing.
i mean it be disappointing especially if they don't try. But if they are say a house parent then technically they are working.
I think that people like that just haven't found what they want to do
No need to call me out like that😳😳
😂 I had to, somethings gotta change!
One bit of solace is that the rat race is universal for most people unless you were born into money
They haven't found the right kind of work.
Dey gave up🧟♀️
wait no way
and den. and den a monster truck comes and smashes them both all up! Boooooooom!
Ngl I feel like I would like eating cookies with cookie monster but I'd have to eat some that he doesn't like because man's don't know how to share 😂
fuk u I'm gonna eat him now
Nah but we can share him. What do ya say? Wanna stand up to tha beast?
I got the boys. Who's makin the first move?
nah I've never played that, what's the objective?
Omfg 😂 who in the hell thought of that. I need to watch some clips now
Would be dope as hell if they de it really realistic and put it on a cod engine. Preferably b02 because I'm biased 😂 but made the look so realistic and scary looking
I used to be into gaming but it died out a few years ago. I genuinely believe I was addicted 😅 but now I judt get bored of games easily if I'm not around people that make it fun
My fire died out* not gaming entirely 😂
Oh yeah I have. Pianos my thing. And philosophy. I'm not the best at either but I do like surrounding myself with it.
I was gonna record something today but my wrist is just not having it 😂
What philosophy you into?
😂 Oh ik, I just meant like what philosophy do you follow? Maybe even a religion if you have one? That counts as one 👌
I like where this is headed! Keep going
Ignore their lazy ass.
Do you mean lay about assholes on welfare?
Let them.
They should look for a new job
I don’t blame them.
It's their prerogative I suppose.
Understandable.
let them die
Up to them.
Me then
