(Read description) Would you rather be unemployed/broke or do a low paying job that you hate?

3 months ago I quit my job at a gas station because the management treated us like crap and I was getting paid 10 dollars an hour (yes I asked for raises I started at 9 dollars). Eventually I quit because the customers were rude and I put my 2 weeks notice. Now that time has passed there is nobody else hiring in town because I live in a small town and when my mom asked me if I'm gonna go back I told her that I'd rather be homeless than go back (which is true). Just working paycheck to paycheck with inflation and low pay makes it not worth it to me. Thoughts?

You gotta do what you gotta do. You asked if you would rather be unemployed/broke - but realistically that is not one of your choices - not long term anyway.

It sounds like you are living with your parents. So maybe you can get by not working for a while. But eventually you'll need a job, whatever you can get.

Yea, the job situation in small towns can suck pretty bad, like REALLY bad. This is why so many people leave for the big cities. It sucks that it works that way, but that's how it is.

I think you need to look long term. What are you going to do in the future? How will you get there? Can you do it where you live now? Do you need education, work experience, apprenticeship, or whatever?

You can float for a while, but eventually you need to get something better going on.

It depends , because what else am I going to do? Okey so the petrol is a shit job , but from there maybe there is a chance to meet someone , and maybe move , I'd rather be doing something , even if its shit , looks better than a blank resume.

It would be easier to start your own business and make more money than you would at a menial job and probably not hate the work. Even if you made $25,000 or $50,000 the first year that would be better than other options and at that point would probably grow.

I would be unemployed. I could get more on unemployment and spend time at the beach.

Not working isn’t really an option for me, been on my own since 18 and wouldn’t go back
