Here are some suggestions to help raise your GPA:
- Meet with your academic advisor to make a plan. They can help you understand what grades you need to achieve your goals.
- Take fewer classes at a time so you can focus on each one. 12 credits or less until you boost your GPA.
- Consider retaking any courses you got a D or F in. You can replace the low grade with a higher one.
- Use campus resources like tutoring, study groups, and writing centers. Get help before you fall behind.
- Go to all classes and take good notes. Even just showing up helps. Treat it like your full time job.
- Use a planner to schedule study time, not just classes. Block out specific hours each week.
- Visit professors during office hours if you need help. Form relationships so they know your name.
- Study in a distraction-free environment like the library. Leave your phone in your bag or dorm.
- Join a study group to prep for tests with other motivated students. Teaching others also helps you learn.
- Eat healthy, get enough sleep, manage your stress. Good self-care helps your focus.
It may take a couple semesters, but if you are organized and use campus supports, you can totally raise your GPA. Just be consistent with studying and going to class. You've got this!
Talk to an academic counselor to see if you can get some kind of academic renewal. If so, maybe you can retake the class and should be able to get an A now that you know it better.
You can up your GPA with easier classes like taking soccer or watercolor, where participation pretty much gets you an A. Also, make sure to have a balanced class load, don't take on too much. Another thing you can do (also check with an academic advisor on this) is to take some classes for credit/no credit (C/NC), which means if you get an A, B, or C, you get credit for the class and if lower, you don't. But both ways it won't affect your GPA. If you think you will get a C, but need the class, this is a good option to keep your GPA high. It won't bring it up, though, so if you think you will get an A, don't take this option.
Retake it.! If you need tutoring then look into that as well. Next semester aim for al A’s as well.
