Should I drop this class?

The teacher is very tough on us and gives us a shit ton of work that I spend the entire week trying to complete. She plays favouritism and prefers this smart and pretty girl over anyone else. She will use that girl as a good example and shit on the rest of us, especially me. I have five more classes left but she keeps critiquing me to the point that I feel sad and scared of her. I know that i have trouble learning but I’m trying my best and she knows it. She will say my assignments are good and some stuff but most of the time critique me so much and if the favourite student does it, she will let her slide. I feel like she dislikes me. She states that at this point she won’t be able to pass some of us and she looks at me and this other chick. Do you think I should stay and do u think she will pass me?

You should stay if whatever you’re studying for is what you really want to do. If need that class to get the career you want, you better stay. I hated school, but it’s my life and I can’t let stuff like a pretty girl or an overly critical professor stop me. I love studying, but hated highschool. College is good though.

That’s very true I’ll try to push as long as I could but the thing is I only get two chances to fail in my program. And the teacher has bad reviews online so I don't know if they had failed students before

Yeah, she probably doesn’t really know what she’s doing or her teaching style is very dated. Like math, I didn’t understand math until someone simplified it for me and told me to think about it like money. Her teaching style is probably old and shitty. Try to research the topics on your own, self study or maybe try tutoring if you have the time for it. Tutoring is always your best friend, but if you need to work then it’s really hard to find time for it.

I think you should stay and stick it out. There’s only 5 more classes left. Say you pass the class, you won’t have to see that professors face again

Hmm yeah I think so too. Though for the program we could only fail twice and we get kicked out. I’m in the second last semester. She criticizes me all the time and I get depressed. I really don’t know what to do

She criticizes my documenting like how I documented too many times. Also when I forgot to give patient privacy for assessment (I did remember but I don't know why I didn’t close it) everytime she’s around I get so nervous because she’s so mean to me infront of patients. And this teacher also has a lot bad reviews online. so I don't know if she failed a lot of people

@asker she may be a very tough professor. I am going through that myself. My advice is to complain about the course to your advisor if possible. I am doing that with one of my classes when I’m done with it in a month

@asker you are welcome! I am studying dietetics and I am in a cooking class right now. I am complaining to my advisor that I feel like I didn’t learn any proper cooking/safety techniques hands on and it’s just more so a learn definition and pass a test class. I’m disappointed in the class.

Dietetic is a great program! Honestly it’s not professional and dangerous that they didn’t teach you proper safety techniques. You should definitely complain.

@asker like we are learning food safety in a different class (just the food safety cert) but she isn’t teaching us how to properly cut veggies / proteins. We are just making recipes based off of reading a recipe. Tests are long and lengthy and it’s a lot of info to take In , in a couple of months. I’m not happy so I totally understand your pain of wanting to drop a class so badly lol

The prof sounds lazy, she’s supposed to demonstrate step by step not just let her students wing it lol. Awww I understand girl, you also have more than one class to study for, so exams must be really hectic on your part. I only have one practice for 12 hours a week but each week I’m severely traumatized by my prof lol.

Yeah, I slightly regret going into this program but then again im confused and i'm getting old so I have to finish college because i'm sick of earning minimum wage :(

@asker I knew it! I’ve heard that nursing programs are extremely tedious. I hope you are almost done , but also you should be proud to get that far because I heard not many people even make it through the classes before the clinicals
