Well this is a very valid question. It relates back to the topic of equality and diversity in society. You may be thinking “why”. Because a lot of private schools actually focus a lot on developing social skills such as emotional intelligence and communication. Some private schools here in the UK actually devote a significant amount of time towards developing these skills.
however public or state schools do not , or place very little emphasis. That’s because class sizes are too large , schools never really have the resources and findings available that they need.
so yes to answer your question , yes it’s very important to teach these. And that’s why private school focus on developing these skills which gives their students the best possible chance in life.
There’s a lot of improvement for most public schools. Best if they do not receive the funding or money they need. They will struggle to improve.
I guess what I’m saying is yes they should. And public or state schools should be given the funding they need to do so. A high level education should be available to all regardless of their background. Private schools or fee paying schools already develop these skills. Because they recognise the importance of students having them. Emotional intelligence is probably one of the most important skills one can have in the working world and compassion
I don't think that's something you can learn in a classroom
