No I most certainly don't... And just for point of interest we consider our two children to be well above average intelligence... And certainly more so than you, in asking such a derogatory question.
“Average” sounds dismissive.
While statistically accurate for the majority of the population, “average” carries a connotation of being unremarkable.
Usualy not, but in a parent teacher meeting with a critical teacher, then defending the kid as "average" is a compliment.
