Do you think my moms fear of me going to high schools justified?

I’ve been in online school for a long time so I just want to go in person for my next year of school when I’ll be in 11th grade.

She says she is ok with it but is scared that she’s afraid of drugs, sex, and bullying that might happen.

Our neighborhood is also next to an affluent one so she’s also afraid their will be stuck up arrogant kids.

I think she’s overreacting a little so I’m not sure. Also she says she’s thinking this way because of her highschool experience where the highschool in her neighborhood was bad but when she went to an exam school it was better

there's definitely going to be some of that at any school... more or less, but is going to be around

that does not mean that it has to affect you directly, and you seem like one that's more than capable of handling these situations and keep away from any trouble you would not want to get into

concerns from parents over these things are always justified, but, when they become fears... that's different, if you're still going to school in person then, it will just be a matter of time, try to give it some time and she'll get used to it eventually, hopefully sooner rather than later

Id say yeah because the world is crazy but also no because those seem very unlikely. But the high school system atmopshere is very toxic and I am worried for you as well but not to that degree. Im more worried about things outside of school in the world hurting you though.

I think going to high school and making reall life friends is better than sitting on your booty all day and only making friends through online school

Well if she's scared of that happening. Tell her to enroll you into a private school. They are better at controlling negatively impactful things and provide much better care to their students. You get what you want by making friends through in person school along with your mother not being as scared of drugs, sex, and other things

No, it’s a new highschool

You could tell her you'd like to try it for a few months. If there is a lot of drugs, sex, and bullying you will return to online learning.
