How would a college/university respond if your reason for going there was so you can get away from your controlling and abusive parents?

1. If you mention it on your application, they will either ignore it or report it because most admissions officers are mandated reporters.

2. It won't go over well because they want to know why you're picking them over other colleges.

3. As sad as it is, they just don't care. They're deciding whether to admit you, and they'll take the easy route and avoid "difficult" students when they can

4. I'm going to a far away college for that same reason, but I picked a college I truly want to attend ans never mentioned it on my application. Once you're free, you deserve a destination you'll be happy at, so be sure to research colleges and pick one you'll be happy to attend.

You don’t have to mention it. Honestly they don’t care the reason since you are paying them to go there.
