What's your take on college?

It is not for everyone.
The most expensive school is not always the best.
What you major in is more important than where you go.
For certain careers it is a prerequisite.
If you do not have a 4 year degree a lot of companies will not even consider you for employment.
Covid has messed up a lot of schools and a lot of programs. Look for a college that will not lockdown because of covid. Taking online courses on a laptop is not a very good way to learn.
I went to college for the very first time at 48 years old. I loved it and got more out of it than if I had gone right out of high school. I now have a degree that I will never use but I did it to show my kids that you never top learning and you can always go back to school.
What degree?
@roxystars19 I have a degree in video game design. I would have gone for a computer science degree as well but trigonometry kicked my butt and was a prerec for my next computer programming classes.
You deserve a lot of credit for that. I finished college when my kids were little and went for my Masters Degree in Computer Science right afterwards. They saw how hard it was to go part time and work full time and do all the other stuff around the house and they made sure they finished college the first time.
@exitseven I had never went to college before that and my kids were about to graduate from high school. I wanted them to know that you never stop learning and that they could go anytime they wanted. So I went to prove it to them...
@nawtee_me Did all your kids gradualte from college?
@exitseven nope, they haven't decided to go yet. One is a welder in the plants and the other works two jobs... But I am still hopeful...
@exitseven I agree, I have a degree that I will never use but I learned a lot about me in college. I never knew that I love to write or that I like computer science. For my degree I had to take programming classes as well as writing classes for storylines.
@nawtee_me I ended up going into the IT field and now I teach Computer Science at a local college.
@exitseven I have thought about doing some refresher work since I have not done it in a few years. what book do you teach from?
@exitseven is this in C++?
@exitseven thanks for the mho
I think it really depends on what a person wants to do. I know plenty of people who decided to just learn a trade or go to a tech college rather than attend a 4 year university and they've done alright for themselves.

College is great for those who wish to polish their skills as a corporate personage. There are other forms of education, such as tech schools, that can give you a more hands-on approach to your vocation.
Too expensive to be worth. Why go 80k in debt unless you're gonna be a doctor or something you need it for yknow
Not my cup of tea
