Just toss out your general thoughts about college students.

They're doing something good for themselves by getting an education and furthering their futures, that is if they choose marketable majors. You don't necessarily have to go to college to have a nice middle or upper class lifestyle but it helps, especially since a lot of jobs require a college degree. There is always trade school, the military, and entrepreneurship though.
I love college and the career I'm studying for! I hope I'm cool 😎
I'm lucky in that I qualify for the Pell Grant, so no student loans for me thankfully.
excellent!
so you don't feel like you are being brainwashed right?
No! Who's saying college students are brainwashed and how are they being brainwashed? 😂 I think we as a society would find it very troubling if people were like... I don't know just "trained" for the jobs that they want. Especially for healthcare professionals. You think anyone wants a surgeon operating on them that didn't go to medical school? 😂 Or even my career choice, they drill it into our heads to make sure we know 100% what "normal" looks like so then we will know what "abnormal" looks like.
You can train for example, a server on how to take orders and to keep pace and multitask. But when it comes to jobs that require significantly more knowledge... Yeah we need to make sure people know how to do that shit. And that requires schooling and then beyond schooling is getting your certifications. 😵💫 Sounds to me that people who say college students are brainwashed may be a little brainwashed themselves lol.
well a bunch of right wingers keep pushing the narrative that college turns kids into marxists or something... you know scare tactics because it turns out when you get an education in college you tend to think a lot more critically and such...
Oh Lordy... So they're basically making a connection where there's really no connection? There's been zero discussion in my classes about any type of political talk. The closest would be the abortion issue and that was just pertaining to how it's not our place as sonographers to give our opinion to any patient that may be considering it.

there are several types of college students that you would very commonly find every university:
1. privileged kids: parents pay for luxury dorms with plenty of amenities, never really working hard in school, taking it easy, well stocked with everything and anything they want that the other kids do not have: 5 deodorants that they never use, fancy clothes they never wore, uber rides whenever they want, ordering takeout every day, a new apple cell phone every year.
2. the stressed-out kid: the one who is deathly worried about not being able to secure a good job after graduation. Usually because they know their parents won't support them long after graduation. (this was me)
3. the kid who works 2 jobs: Never has enough time to hangout, attend events, make friends, network yet you wonder how they still manage to get all their homework done and pass all their exams.
4. party kid: the kid who has middle class parents working 2 jobs to send him to college, just so that he could party, play video games, no attend class and do the absolute bare minimum. He has absolutely no adult responsibilities and still literally behaves like a teenager.
5. The kid who does not know why she is there: apathetic, drags her feet, wonders why the professor doesn't like her since she doesn't do her homework. She feels no purpose being there. Parents are forcing her to be there. Doesn't want to do anything. They might look lazy and lost at times.
I'll be completely honest, and I can only speak for American college students. From my personal observations a lot of them are lazy and stupid. They seem to prioritize partying and fucking over learning. And they're so irresponsible. I had a backpacking trip in college and only one group arrived early morning. The rest of them, including mine, did not give a shit. They were stopping to eat and visit friends and were splurging on expensive food, then complaining later that they don't have money. I will never travel with a group of college kids again. I often read how they trash trails and chop down trees.
But I'm surprised how some of these people even got into college as, they're stupid. There's no sugar coating it. They're straight up stupid. I'm not sure if there are any other countries where ADHD students would get into a 4 year university. Not to mention how they're afraid to question things and just blindly believe what their told. High school has stricter standards then colleges/universities. I got a D in a required course and still got my degree. But one shouldn't be surprised when the majority of professors are also dumb as fuck and have little to no knowledge of subjects outside their field. And American schools are supposed to be the best in the country? 😂
Years ago, I would have said smartest people in the room continuing to further their education, but it is quite clear watching people around me evolve naturally with their own talents in different and unique ways, that college isn't for everyone nor should it be. There are some brilliant minds with 3 degrees, and there are equally brilliant minds with none to their name. It's all about really how you choose to successfully navigate your own talent as a student in school or of life to get the most of out it.
Neutral generally. I mean certainly there are kids admitted to college that are not academically fit enough and get low marks, study a degree that qualifies them for making sandwiches and are granted student loans they can never pay back. If you have a college degree what is it in and what was your grade?
Envious. I always wanted to go to college and start a career in occupational therapy, but due to various health issues getting in my way that over time caused damage to my mind, I don’t think it’s an option anymore.
You don't feel like they brainwash people there?
I think college is good for some things, like careers in medical fields like with mental health and physical health, you have to be qualified to enter those fields. But with other jobs, I know people who’ve spent years at college getting their degrees or whatever, and apply for the job they want that required their qualifications, only to find that they’re over-qualified and therefore got denied for the job they wanted. I think a lot of jobs these days don’t require a college education so sometimes it’s a waste of time and wracks up a lot of student debt.
But no, I don’t feel like they brainwash anyone.
Good for them if the career ain't dwindling day by day. But also i feel as if they don't know the truth of college... so get ready for a ride. And no student loans, for the love of god, just don't. you'll be 76 by the time you paid those student loans.
My elder cousin says it's the best time of life especially when you get to stay in hostel with your bestie. A time when you are matured yet young, responsible yet carefree. It's like enjoying the childhood being an adult in a rejuvenating way. It's the last stage before you get exposed to the rough society. And you get to learn about life more than studies from there only.
They’re being brainwashed and there is a lot of indoctrination going on (coming from a current Uni student). We’re being thought what to think and not how to think critically. A lot of bias is present especially among the administrators and you can be flunked in a snap if they don’t like you. It’s getting overrated honestly
I was once like them. I wish I was in college again 😂 best times!
did you feel like you were being brainwashed?
Well I went to college and it was definitely a fun an interesting experience, and I think it’s wonderful others can have that experience
did you feel like you're being brainwashed?
Not at all!
I was a college student twice so I would be hypocritical if I said that I don't like them or that they're being brainwashed or wasting their time and money.
So I would say it's good for them if they're doing what they want.
50/50, I think a lot of them are wasting their time and money but there's some that are studying hard to better their future. There's some that are narcissistic and woke but there's others who dont care and are more apolitical.
I think college is fun. I’m a college student.
do you feel like you're being brainwashed?
I have no opinion on college students; good or bad.
did you go to college?
oh wow really? couldn't afford it? didn't know what you wanted to do?
I'm worried for what pablum they're being fed and what they're NOT questioning.
how do you know if they aren't questioning things?
Just look at the state of our current society.
wym? can you elaborate?
Dump, Climate Change, Putin, Covid-19, Inflation, Social Media Obsession, Cyberbulling, Gun Violence, World Economic Forum, RoevWade, etc. Need I say more?
and all those things are because college students are brainwashed huh?
Maybe, it remains to be seen, but they're NOT fixing it. I remain optimistic!
Good for the ones who work hard. I just want to become one.
Well jeez, being that I am one… uhm, I think we are friggin awesome?
Can I change my answer? There are a tremendous amt of intolerant a-holes on campus. I’m a live and let live type, I don’t care if you are some kind of conservative, as long as you are not bigoted, racist, or ANY kind of “-phobe” or “-ist”, I do not care what your political beliefs are, where you are from, or what your religion is. If you are polite and courteous to me, I will be polite and courteous to you. But there are a LOT of people on campus who will use things like the “heckler’s veto” to shut down any speaker they disagree with, or have been TOLD they disagree with! I say that we are in college to have our beliefs and preconceived notion’s challenged. To be made to feel a little uncomfortable at times. The world is NOT a safe space, and if you need to cuddle a teddy bear, or stroke a puppy just because someone is saying something you disagree with, well you will hardly be prepared for a world that doesn't give a shit about your “feelings”! There are WAY too many people here that believe if you don’t believe EXACTLY as they do… they freak the hell out! That is NOT a healthy way to either look at, or deal with the world!
College students are cool but some need to put more effort into their studies and engage in fewer parties.
Majority of them are simply following their dream or they are. in the process of figuring out their professional future. They need to be respected for that.
I mean my experience at college is that everyone seems pretty chill. You know, people just want to focus on their studies.
I automatically assume they’re college students and judge the entire population the same ! 😑
I think college is fun and has definitely increased my earning potential.
I say good for them to make something of their lives.
Uh they're super cool and awesome 🥴
brain for the first year then over the top
…… NO- PAPUR *Miss the Rage theme*
they're good to date and hot
I am one
do you feel like you're being brainwashed?
No I don’t and I’m not, funny thing about the people that claim that most of them ever even went
2 and 4
