I went from finishing high school to stepping into college to beginning a career in a matter of less than a year.

There is no doubt in my mind that some things never change for plenty of people after high school, and just because someone left their hometown to live in a dorm doesn't mean they've suddenly learned a great deal - even though they often think that's how it goes.

Also, book smarts aren't the same as common sense or street smarts. And nothing is a substitute for anything else. When people don't realize that, I think that's a big contribution to displays of immaturity.

The ones that only go to college for the parties (and yes I know people like that) are very immature. The ones who actually care about their studies and getting a degree I feel are more mature (in most cases but I'm just generally speaking). But to be honest, almost all college students are still teenagers and very early 20's so mentally, many of them aren't even real adults yet. By the time most graduate though, they should be more mature.

Nah! I'm in college, and my friends and I relish the fact that we get to get out the last of our antics/youth-capades. We still do ridiculous thing and denounce maturity (for unnecessary things, I mean we all have jobs and go to work faithfully and go to school faithfully, it's just during our shenanigans times that we say "F You growing up!")

some are, some aren't. it has nothing to do with them being a college student though. just some people are and some people aren't and they all happen to be in college

I think beyond maturity, a good bit are a lot less brain savvy and seem to not know anything about the world or how to live in it until they learn from experience.

I think it just depends.

If they are going off to college on their parent's money & looking toward the college experience more than the degree, they are probably going to be immature & do stupid things.

Someone who pays for them self, or at least partly, and have goals in their life will take things a little more seriously, thus they are/ are being more mature.

its divided half and half, some are, some arent. when I went to college half of my friends were strictly academic and mature and career oriented, whereas others were caught up in sex dating playing and other dumb things.

I'm in college and by no means am I claiming to be mature, but the maturity level of my fellow students is lower than I'd have hoped. It rather upsets me, actually. Oh well.

Its a time of learning who you are when you are in college. There will be times when we act mature and others when we act like we are five.
