Teenagers worldly and wise? That's laughable.
Do you mean not than their parents, but more than their parents were at their age? Those are two different things.
Teenagers all go through a process of detachment, and part of that may be questioning their parents and their knowledge, etc. They push up against their rules, pushing them for some semblance of independence. That's all natural and part of growing up.
But kids being more worldly and wise than their parents? No way. That's just arrogance and conceitedness. And if many kids today think that, then maybe their parents have raised little monsters.
(Or, could be the internet, having a massive democratizing effect. It emboldens some far beyond what is deserved.) Just because someone knows about apps, for instance, doesn't mean they know anything about the world.

No. For starters the past couple of generations of kids have been completely sheltered from the world so while they are definitly more tech savvy, wise they are not (to be fair teenagers are rarely if ever wise (just the nature of things) but the past couple of generations or so even more so). I mean when I was growing up you could have a paper route where you would wake up at four or five in the morning to deliver papers at like 14 years old. You would be working with a job, helping your parents with manual labor and fixing things around the house (to be fair a lot of this has died out even in my generation. I helped my older brothers with their paper routes but doing work around the house beyond cleaning, mowing lawns and painting was not really common for me).
In addition our educational system has been teaching kids all sorts of completely untrue and insane things so this past generation is actually worse off as it pertains to wisdom then past generations.
In a lot of different ways yes and lot different ways know it depends on the subjects it depends on a lot of different things but teenagers today are so very smart I have found a lot of them have ten times more the passion that teenagers did when I was that age they are different levels and smart it is so cool. Especially girls they had become a lot smarter a lot wiser I mean they were smart back when I was a teenager but where they're at now is just remarkable some of the things that I have talked about with teen girls just blows me away on what they knowing who they are and who they're going to become I think it's beautiful
No. They may have the news more readily at their fingertips being tech-savvy, etc. but that doesn't mean they comprehend the big picture. They are easily led to believe what's read without thinking "outside the box", thinking "why" is this the case. That comes with the experience they lack.
Take the conflict with Palestine and Israel as a very easy example. Many would say it's Israel that is at fault because the news is lauding the injuries of Palestinians... Palestine started it, again, as always. Hamas who are the problem hide in the civilian areas like cowards and the resultant injuries/deaths of course works in their favor internationally.

That's based on a person to person bases. Not a general overall thing.
For example a teenager who has there mother never taking care of him and his siblings so he has to do everything himself and look after his siblings and her cause she's a drunk the father is not there.
I am pretty sure like 100% times sure that teenager is more wise than his parents.
Wise is a thing learnt not based on age, based on experience. Which one may say experience comes with age so more age you are more experienced you are. But it's not if that person isn't learning, or not at the speed your learning.No.
Now they may be more up to date on today's technologies or pulp culture trends but when it comes to core life wisdom, the basics of life and what is noble and healthy pursuits and how to succeed in life and core principles to live by... no.
Youth's overall goal and how to make all their decisions is "be accepted with your friends group and peers", "boyfriends/girlfriends"... and "life is nothing but pursuing fun and avoiding work and hassle and having to wait for things". .Define Worldwise? what does that even mean.
I got this when I googled it.
Etymology
From Middle English worldwis, from Old English woruldwīs (“worldwise, worldly-wise, learned”), equivalent to world + wise.
Adjective
worldwise (comparative more worldwise, superlative most worldwise)
Knowledgeable about the world; worldly-wise; sophisticated; experienced.
If that means knowledgeable about the world, then no... but at the same time while I think they know less they know HOW to get that information faster than their parents by searching the internet. The internet in general seems to have made people less knowledgeable cause they can just search for whatever they want to know, rather than have to memorize it all.
If it means experienced, how could a teenager have more experience than their parents in life? that would be odd.
Sophisticated... another term to define as that can mean a lot of things. It's more like kids now grow up with a fundamental skill that you have to have to operate in modern society. The ability to use technology, hence why if someone can't use technology you'd call them a boomer. Boomers in the technology field obviously know how to use technology but somehow most don't understand it very well. It's like being raised a native English speaker vs. learning it when older. When it comes purely to decision making a teen usually wouldn't be wiser than an elder... but if the teen understands the situation better maybe not?
Depends on how you define more worldly.
Do teenagers today have more access to worldly matters? Thanks to the invention of the internet, yes.
Do they actually use it to educate themselves from different perspective and thus challeneg their own views more? Absolutely not.The kids may think so because they have this stuff at their finger tips, but I disagree. I recently took a course at college and I forgot the topic and question, but my response was so blunt I'm surprised I got a passing grade. It had to do with today's society and technology. Which made me a little upset. But my response was, if the kids of today turn out this way, with all the unnecessary technology to run their lives, we are gonna lose our military and become the weakest country in the world. Yes I understand there is technology that can do some things, but who is gonna be the next generation to stand the front lines when needed? But yes I disagree that kids are more knowledgeable than their parents and grown ups. They haven't seen the world and don't have the necessary training to be as knowledgeable as a grown up yet.
Yes and no.
a lot depends on what is meant by worldly wise I guess.
where possible I've tried to impart (or train) to my daughter various stuff, some likely useful some just random but fun lol.
I was however a magnitude higher on being streetwise.
I also now know more about tech, software etc.
there are certain things she does know more than me and surprises me a fair bit lolSort of. Adults just don't understand how different the world is today. I've been exposed to the cruelty and horror of the world simply by watching the news and true crime documentaries. Older people seem oblivious to it sometimes. Especially when it comes to social events like dating or the school system. Perents just have no clue!
Nope 😂😂 teenagers today are completely clueless and the guy teaching that class needs to give his head a shake. My 2 teenagers are great when it comes to maths or other academic subjects but shove a real life problem in their face and they are stumped. Turning the washer on would be an amusing and difficult task for them.
No certainly not, there can be exceptions but most teenagers aren't very bright so the parents has gained the wisdom over the years and should be the one winning that argument in general. A teenager might win in specific topics they have chosen to dwell in while the parent has bothered with it at all.
You kidding me? I hear from people in universities that speak a worse italian than I do, and I dropped out of it a good decade and a half ago. They might know some more words than when I was younger, but generally speaking, we weren't half as ignorant back then, when out of high school.
I'm from the USA, I believe that Teens are more educated nowadays
and they know how to protect themselves from getting pregnant
and most learn to say no to a guy when he approaches a girl when
he asks her for sex or sexual acts and some are homeschooled
but also depends on the nature of the Teen and I believe they can
protect themselves online better now than they have years ago?Not at 16. You don't have the maturity, social context, and nuanced experience to be able to say that even if you have better knowledge and interest. But you do probably have valid views and that's something that could lead to interesting conversations between you and your parents.
No. I say this because they have not had enough life experiences to be more worldly wise then their parents. I believe you have to truly go and see how much the world will throw at you without your parents to protect you. You have to get out and see how hard you have to work for everything, how nothing is given to you in life. How your morals and integrity are the only things that matter in life and the only things that can't be taken away from you.
I think that knowledge really starts to come in the mid 20s and from personal experience, I think we know more general data and less useful/applicable information. For example, how many people <20 know how to fix a tire compared to how to search for that information online. The opposite is true for people now in their 70/80s
They're more smart ass than smart.
On a serious not, it could be the case. Teenagers nowadays have easier access to information. It's just how they use that power to gain knowledge and apply it.there is a lot of so called educated people out there, I have a saying,
they maybe able to work out the volume of an orange, but few know how to peel itNo because they've got more of an experience with things. But I have to say the world has changed so much, and they haven't experienced this new world like us teenagers. So... I guess I don't know.
Kids today are shy and scared. That is why they communicate exclusively by text instead of actually talking to each other.
Depends on the case, situational basis. Also depends on what you define as wise. In very specific cases kids can be more familiar with issues that feel relevant to them.
